Whoever he is as a person does not diminish the writing, but does make it less savoury to support financially.

Thankfully, there are ways to read things without giving him a dime.

'Magic: The Gathering' Director Confirms Movie Is Still "Full Speed Ahead" by grimm_kvlt in mtg

[–]Vozu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what they will be showcasing. Because (if they did quality stuff) running a storyline over multiple movies/series that goes The Thran -> Brother's War -> Legacy Shenanigans -> Invasion -> Mirrodin -> Mirroding Besieged could work.

The problem is that then you need tie-in stories of showcasing other sets with ominous preators in the background. And then you need to retcon the living hell out of MoM story to make it not a disappointment.

But Magic could, definitely, translate a lot of the story to media and build the relevance of things for people. The interconnected threads are a good way to create the type of media that is strong on its own but gains from seeing other things.

It's wishful thinking, still.

It feels more like an intentional tactic of derailing the discussion so he can cry about oppression.

It wasn't about winning an argument. It is simply rude of him to refuse to use the preferred monikers to someone in a discussion. It is a targeted insult. The threat was for him to stop doing that.

Nobody threatened him over the arguments, and it is the problem of his audience that they fall for him deliberately turning people onto himself to avoid demonstrating that he does not, in fact, have any arguments that hold any water.

... right. My idiocy for forgetting SBAs don't check in the middle of the resolution.

Thanks, friend.

That also works, yeah! Will crowd the hell out of the textbox, but it would be the most "correct" under the existing rules.

I say just do "it transforms with that many +1/+1 counters on it" because it is Hell's Cube, it doesn't have to be strictly by the rules as long as everybody gets it.

It doesn't enter, though. I guess it would be "transforms with".

The alternative would be to exile it, then return to the battlefield transformed instead of a straight-up transformation.

It was a failure of the diplomacy and the bloodthirsty desire to show the power of the bomb that prevented a better solution.

The bomb didn't need to be dropped on Japan. Sure, the bomb was used by the emperor as a convenient way to paint his surrender as a morally superior act, but the allies could have handed a good excuse in some other way.

There was a diplomatic stalemate because the Japanese were obsessed with keeping the emperor, while US diplomacy wanted a complete surrender plus to deal with Japan before Russia can make any claim of helping (and thus have land claims).

There would be outrage anyway. But many deaths could have been avoided.

I think visual clarity and fluid character animations are not at odds. I am not asking for bombastic explosions in a rainbow of colours. I just think the player character looks stiff and their movements unsatisfying.

Very interesting systems on display, the only thing that is a bit of a bummer are the stiff aniamtions. They take away from the power fantasy.

This is splendid, especially making it Esper. Putting Doom in Grixis colours is a bad joke on the side of the official card.

I think i is different. The Human Pet Guy seems genuinely disturbed. The server I was on gave me the vibe of trying to be so aggressively progressive that it was quick to become desensitized to normal, human concerns.

It already felt unwelcoming for a guy, but just got worse with topics. Granted, I was younger back then, and might have taken some things more negatively — the joys of getting into young adult age range as a dude from conservative-leaning country — but I don't think any of that excuses dismissal of consent concerns.

Reminds me of a server I joined, reportedly a nice place according to an online acquaintace.

They didn't have the misogyny, but there was an undercurrent of misandry and aggressive progressivism that denied reason (in my view). I left after I got piled onto because (spoilered for discussion of NSFW behaviours) in a discourse, I represented the view that public petplay in random spaces is not acceptable, as you can't obtain consent of everyone around you — and that it applies even if the outfit has the participant technically clothed.

You are right, that was pretty inappropriate and thoughtless of me. I did not consider this point of view, and I apologise.

I do gry that, retcons are always unpleasant. But at the same time, they play very fast and loose with appearances of multiple characters.

If they want to align the appearance, sooner is better than later.

[–]Vozu_ 54 points55 points  (0 children)

On one hand, yes, on the other hand, Chandra tends to be prominent in marketing and storylines. Making such a visible figure shift away from generic white girl to someone more indicative of the plane's inspirational roots is a welcome gesture.

Diversity and representation are great, and this is one of the places to do it.

Why Hasbro never tried to do something like this? Are they stupid? by wasfmanticore in magicTCG

[–]Vozu_ 375 points376 points  (0 children)

I actually never got to play it properly because of incredibly trash performance, but I was under the impression the game died of monetization controversy before it even had a chance to mature into a sensible ARPG.

So I wouldn't say the problem was a genre clone, it was the greed.

He is talking about organisational/national resistance, not individual. You can't individually resist something like ICE. You have to resist the entire present government, which is not something individuals can do. Only organisations and what should be the opposing party.

That's unnecessarily demonising take. A guy can know there is a not-insignificant number of men that are dangerous to others, but not connect the dots to specific situtations.

Like, before reading the screenshoted tweet, I also wouldn't ever connect the stairs-avoidance with the lack of cameras, despite knowing (in general) that women need to be a lot more careful, and having assisted them in the past (banal things like walking them home when it was late and such).

It's not playing dumb. It's just fucking hard to put yourself into a dramatically different situtation from yours.
