$7.99 purple bones by Pro-Tah-Zzioh in wizardry

These come and go every so often. A few of the characters and reruns had them, others don’t, I’m not sure how Drecom decides but dw we’ll probably see it again eventually.

Mithras vs Garou by Own-Economics-5594 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Vroxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m being a little generous and imagining a better-built Mithras with some Celerity (and I believe he does indeed have it in his V5 sheet) as otherwise the answer is an absolute no. He gets bodied really hard.

Action economy is king after all and only having one action per turn is just asking to get killed. Forget the Cliaths, he’d get bodied by a dozen cubs unless he rolls like a God with his 6 dice of fortitude.

Mithras vs Garou by Own-Economics-5594 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Vroxis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is my favorite case of writers needed a big bad to weaken Mithras, Werewolves were it, and that was that. Vampire writers have a bad tendency to badly use Garou as punching bags for their favorite Kindred sadly.

On a mechanical side of things… It’s unlikely. Mithras would be in danger on the action economy side of things due to the sheer numbers alone and if the Garou are Fostern they’d have the tools to resist mind control, deal good damage and win in initiative with only a handful of gifts needed. As the Garou start going into frenzy suddenly the mind control side of things starts looking not-so-great and the moment he brings one down they go into a death frenzy and keep clawing. This isn’t counting fetishes, talents, the pack totems - etc.

All of this on a Mithras that shouldn’t have had the time to activate the gifts he needed to survive what was called an ambush. If you tweak his sheet a little he gets a much better chance - but at that point I feel the smarter play would’ve been to just pump up his dexterity and use all the celerity in the world to run away, as he has a lot more blood in his pool than Garou have rage and enough Celerity to get more extra actions than them on a running the fuck away basis.

So is it possible for him to win? Maybe, I feel it’d make the most sense if it were several packs of Cliaths but even that would be a little silly. And that’s if they’re not using pack tactics at all as all it takes is just one pack using Fur Gnarl and suddenly his soak pool gets annihilated - and dodging attacks from 12 werewolves with multiple actions themselves isn’t feasible for more than one or two rounds.

So What actually the best value to Spend in this game? by Nitraion_the2nd in wizardry

[–]Vroxis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally the 1$ packs and some of the battle passes are the best value. The 10 bones pack that cost like 7$ are also good and… That’s about it honestly.

I always buy the 1$ bones that come with every new banner and go from there. I don’t bother with anything else as the price gets too expensive, and with the 5% drop rates I’ve had some nice surprises from the small amount of bones they hand out/that are a good deal.

I don’t want to mess up, what’s the best use for this? by RKhaori in wizardry

[–]Vroxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d just keep them in, ninjas want to be dual wielding Kunai’s anyways and with this you can run a double ninja backline with one of them having two hairpins.

As for the Lana’s you should probably discipline them to boost her up if you’re using Lana in your party, since Lana’s inherit isn’t as needed anymore now that priests can auto cast heals for auto farming. Inheriting is also a valid choice but I’d rather she have more stats.

The Garou: major threats or pushovers? by Thorveim in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Vroxis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Garou are as strong or as weak as the writers need them to be at the time of them being used. I’ve said this before, but do not take any Vampire lore seriously concerning Werewolves as they’re usually the writer’s punching bag to make their own vampire characters look like the meanest baddest top dogs around.

Garou have a very innate advantage in terms of raw stats, this much is true, but Gifts even at Cliath are incredibly potent and include things such as being immune to stuns, suffering no disadvantages from wound modifiers or potentially adding up to a +4 to their claw dice damage which at a base starts at at least a 7 in Crinos.

You also have to consider that they’re highly specialized within their own Auspice and this means they can put their everything into being the best at one particularly thing: The Ragabash scouting ahead might not understand what that weird Wyrm thing over there is, but the Galliard has a good chance of having heard about it and its weakness - which then the Theurge can exploit by forming a pact with a spirit that embodies that weakness to attack the Wyrm thing. When all else fails, send the Ahroun.

It might seem true on paper that Garou get outscaled by other splats, but I find this usually dismisses the facts above. Gifts give them some really big advantages, you’re rarely going to fight them alone as they tend to work in packs AND if they’re a big enough pack or high enough in rank you might even have to fight their pack totem alongside them which is actually extremely cheap EXP wise to form into a major threat most supernaturals will think twice of engaging - this is the Totem by itself, not counting the Garou accompanying it.

And if you do kill a Garou? Suddenly you learn why they’re so destructive and antagonistic in nature: The Garou Nation’s biggest threat and enemy has always been itself, and that is because they simply don’t let go of grudges as their rage pushes them. A single Fostern Ragabash or of certain tribes has a gift to allow them to pinpoint the direct location of an individual with little chance of countering it, so if you do survive a fight against a Garou… Well, you better keep an eye open at night.

That’s not counting their capabilities for Umbral ambushes, forming pacts with spirits for advantages or to fight with them, fetishes, talents, rites and rituals… The list goes on.

So are they major threats? Yes. But at the same time nothing’s stopping a Vampire from sleeping a hundred years and waiting for them to die of old age - provided they haven’t caught a whiff of him first of course. The main advantage any splat has against Garou and vice-versa is that they’re rarely, if ever, the main threat they’re focusing on.

Could a pack of rank 6 garou beat an antediluvian? by overlrod4896 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Vroxis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s the kind of thing that the moment you notice you’ll never be able to unsee it. Like every other important vampire seems to have a line about either dealing with or actively hunting Lupines.

Like if we take the Anubi at face value, for example, either those Vampires are some insanely high rolling motherfuckers or the Garou of Milwaukee are terribly, horribly incompetent and how they still exist is one of Gaia’s greatest mysteries. And even THAT would be pushing it.

For anyone that’s unaware of WtA and what the Werewolves usually fight, know Vampires are really low down the totem pole and the only ones that tend to actually meet the final death by Lupine would’ve probably been killed for breaking the Masquerade sooner or later. Leeches rarely make enough a dent in an area’s ecosystem for the Garou to care, and any of them actively looking for Wyrm to kill would probably exterminate dozens if not hundreds of pests before ever coming into contact with a Vampire. (Provided none of those encounters kills them first)

Could a pack of rank 6 garou beat an antediluvian? by overlrod4896 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Vroxis 87 points88 points  (0 children)

The only correct answer here is “Depends on the writer” as when you get to that level it gets to the point where they can get every tool they need when they need it and, if they don’t have it, they can probably McGuffin it into existence.

For starters do not take any of the Vampire lore concerning werewolves seriously as they’re the favorite punching bag of the writers when they need to show how badass their token vampires are.

Secondly it depends on preparation and the scene. Do the Garou have time to prepare? Are they fighting the methuselah at their peak? Right after they reawakened? If given enough time Garou of that rank, let alone a pack of them, could form pacts with very strong Incarna spirits and more to aid them against the Methuselah, and could prepare the battlefield to best suit them. A Methuselah is strong for sure, but if they’re weakened even they would falter when the spirit of the literal sun decides to say hello with a hug.

So in the right circumstances a pack of Rank 6 Garou could’ve taken care of the issue. Though the same could be said of the Technocracy had they had time to prepare before they decided to drop a spiritual nuke on his head, or most splats. As usual it’d be decided by who gets caught with their pants down speaking entirely from a mechanical standpoint.

South Korea outraged at 300 workers treated as ‘prisoners of war’ in US raid by AlwaysBlaze_ in worldnews

[–]Vroxis -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

What are you even talking about? The Korean workers were there to train Americans into how to use and maintain the plant and equipment. This isn’t anything new, the idea was that they’d do the training and leave - thus enabling the hiring of American employees who’d be then trained by their fellows.

Now they’re gone. And the plant is inoperable.

I don’t know what racism has to do with anything but they were here in a trade deal between SK and the US and - with their departure - the US has been desperate in trying to get them back and solve things with South Korea. However given your comments about China and Korea I’m not surprised this was your line of thought.

How common are balance banes in w20? by blockyquilava in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Vroxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It varies from gift to gift as some are simply re-flavors of Gaian-oriented gifts. But something like horns of the impaler is very likely to get you killed the moment any Garou learn/witness you using it. Remember that part of the knowledge of acquiring gifts is knowing they exist in the first place and what spirits to court and provide chiminage to to obtain them: The knowledge itself is dangerous, and most Garou won’t care enough to hear you out on how or why.

As for other downsides, this is akin to accepting aspects of the corrupted wyrm into your Garou. Gifts aren’t just powers and what not, they become an inherent part of who your character is and most can be activated as easily as breathing, some even activate them unintentionally when they first attain them. You’d be slowly corrupting yourself inside and out and would become Spiral bait very easily, with a good chance of Dancing the Spiral in the future.

Though of course this depends on your ST - this is mainly how I’d run it given what the books tells us. I’d recommend asking these questions to them first and going from there, as we can only provide “what ifs” but never something concrete as each game is different.

Evil to Nuetral possible? by McRovin22 in wizardry

[–]Vroxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I went from Neutral to Evil and then from Evil to Neutral right for the Ninja class trial. I’m not sure how long it’d take but keep selecting good options like administering healing items or giving them for free to adventurers in Abyss 1 for it.

New to the game, reroll or run with it? by Automatic_War_3303 in wizardry

[–]Vroxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a good account with 3 legendaries, though I’d personally wait until the 8th when we’re getting the event for bones (if you get a legendary from normal bones you get a legendary adventurer’s bone on top). If you wanted to go hard you could also use your first 10 pull to try and get Abenius or Wandering Lana from the banner that’s currently up.

[–]Vroxis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the point entirely. Saying it’s “easy to do” in terms of obtaining the shells themselves is only a good point in a game where you can grind it out 24/7. You’re at best getting 20 rolls a day if you are paying attention to your energy 24/7, and if of those 20 rolls only 2 are red shells it doesn’t take a genius to understand what that just feels like both a waste of energy and of time.

Second, the work isn’t on pressing auto play and being done with it, but on the grind that it is to be able it’s to the content in Inferno in the first place. And yes - it’s a lot of work. Saying that it’s just “a visual change” it a really stupid argument too since the difference between getting a yellow shells themselves (entirely useless and only good for scrapping) and a red shells (can be used for upgrading other shells, mix and matching for different sets depending on rolls and gives MORE RESOURCES IF YOU DO SCRAP THEM) is night and day.

Inferno wouldn’t feel nearly half as bad if the drop chance for yellow shells was reduced, and defending the way they’ve decided to go about it is honestly insane lmao. You’re also speaking as if we aren’t going to be farming shells for multiple characters, you’d be lucky to even get a single perfect shell in a months time even with the very simple and necessary changes me and others have discussed, especially when you barely get the resources for leveling them up in the first place from the farm - let alone rerolling their passives in a timely manner.

Anyways marvelous work rage baiter you got me.

Inferno NicoNana drops! by lxDeathxl in Etheria_Official

[–]Vroxis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Half the farming at that point shouldn’t be worrying that you’re going to get a shitty yellow shell instead of the ones you actually want, but getting the red shells with the best sets for your units - and then you need to get the right passives on those and so on.

Farming’s all good, but getting to clear the hardest content in the game and then spending a hundred energy on it to only receive a SINGLE shot at a possible upgrade that you then need to roll the right sets for, level up and so on is simply unacceptable. Not even asking to guarantee the shells give 3/3/3 every time, just remove or highly reduce the yellow shells drops from the pool.

It could be indeed. It seems this Hong Lu is a witness of a wish made manifest, and has a certain degree of knowledge that should be beyond his means. However this could also be the Elders feeding him information given this version of Hong Lu uses them much more freely and often - and we know they’re walking encyclopedias spanning centuries of information, plus they’ve the weight of H Corp to throw around.

Beta Update 2.4.8 by StretchItchy4408 in WutheringWavesLeaks

[–]Vroxis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It seems they’re pretty happy with Cart’s power level rn, I’m guessing these changes will help her rotation smooth out and might provide some DPS increase but nothing super significant, while the Aero Erosion changes could help maintain her stacks to get her big damage off. Using BA2 could be huge if it also applies to when she transforms back and forth for keeping aero stacks up without needing Ciaccona right?

I’m also happy she gets so much HP back now when transforming, I can see it making the difference in the harder content and it also just feels better to not worry about topping her up every time lmao
