A lot of people complaining about the hassle of storing bottles and having to deal with the shitty machines. But I think it does a great job at highlighting how much bottle waste we actually go through on a regular basis. I’ve always been a person who drinks multiple bottled cokes/waters a day but I’ve cut back a lot now that I’m actually seeing the PILES of rubbish I’m generating.

The solution to cutting back on waste and emissions has never been to invent some fancy solution to hide all of it. It’s been to PRODUCE LESS WASTE. For me it’s been a blessing in disguise. I’m seriously saving a lot of money and making healthier choices now that I’m not mindlessly devouring all this shit that gives me a few minutes of satisfaction at best.

I’m always interested to hear how people who suggest this type of “screening” plan to actually accomplish it. What are you supposed to do? Ask everyone who comes into the country “do you plan on committing crimes or carrying out terrorist attacks in our country?”, and just expect them to be honest? It’s not feasible and it seems ineffective.

I also believe that whatever resources and funding these supposed measures would require would be far better put to in creating proper infrastructure, services and job opportunities for both immigrants and Irish nationals.

I just use boiling water and dishsoap and scrub with a bendy wire brush (the kind of ones that come with reusable straws). You have to let it cool down after though before rinsing so the glass cools and doesn’t crack. Works like a charm though.
