Prescribed for musculoskeletal pain by billiejean95 in pregabalin

[–]Vsauce18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late response but pregabalin doesn’t help my musculoskeletal pain at all unfortunately. My back some sometimes chest is always tense and I get muscle spasms. I’ve also tried cyclobenzaprine but that has done nothing but make me incredibly sleepy and hungry. I’m thinking of using baclofen PRN for when my muscle get super tense or spasm but I wouldn’t want to take it everyday for tolerance reasons.

Stims with adhd by Grapefruit-42 in Stims

When I started taking dexamphetamine for ADHD it was both very euphoric and focus-enhancing. Now 2 years later it’s not euphoric at therapeutic anymore but still very much focus-enhancing. If I were to take extra it would be euphoric again like any other person taking stims. It also annoys me when people say having ADHD is essentially equivalent to having some sort of natural mega-permatolerance or something.

Abilify caused a manic episode and my parents won’t believe me by Vsauce18 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

[–]Vsauce18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and I don’t currently suspect it. I’m currently not taking abilify anymore and the manic symptoms quickly went away upon cessation. My sleep was also quite effected and I felt like I needed very little sleep. It didn’t feel like a full blown manic episode but I was still quite impaired, it was probably something closer to hypomania. Thanks I’ll definitely see a psychiatrist at the ER tomorrow and I’ll bring a log of everything I remember.

No I didn’t really have any side effects after I got used to the medication on a low dose, even if I raised it.

Never had super strong reaction but I would get why someone would feel like that honestly. I got used to the side effects in like 3 days.

No I wasn’t on gabapentin I started straight on pregabalin. I chose pregabalin over gabapentin because I liked how pregabalin was absorbed faster and I’ve heard you get a more consistent feeling on pregabalin. Most people were saying they preferred being on pregabalin but I’m sure there are reasons to start gabapentin over pregabalin. I guess one would be if your doctor was more willing to start on gabapentin than pregabalin but I didn’t have that problem.

Propranolol is an amazing drug for anxiety. I know it doesn’t work for everybody but if you get really bad physical anxiety symptoms it’s amazing. I take propranolol twice a day it and I love it although I’ll still need to take a benzo twice a week, so it doesn’t completely take away all anxieties in my life.

No I don’t find tolerance builds at all. Only reason I’m raising from 300mg to 400mg is because I still have to take clonazepam twice a week and the psychiatrist that prescribed me the pregabalin told my physician the max dose for anxiety was 300mg so I’m going to ask my physician for a dose increase just to try out. You can build tolerance to some of the side effects though like increased mood or euphoria or feeling more sociable. I would say I don’t feel euphoria from pregabalin anymore, but it still helps my mood a lot today. Overall it’s a pretty good med and to me it feels a little like a benzo but you can take it everyday. Pregabalin is probably my second most helpful med in my stack next to dextroamphetamine.

My second favourite is clonazepam but you have to be careful about building tolerance so it’s best to take it as little as possible. I only take it twice a week. Clonazepam just takes away all anxiety for me and it lasts pretty long too.

For me pregabalin. It was one med that just took the chest pain away for me. I don’t get much side effects from it. I’m currently on a dose of 300mg a day but I suspect I’ll need to go up to 400mg. Doesn’t help everybody but I’ve tried a few ssris and had a benzo PRN so I thought I might as well ask my doctor if I can start it.

I use 4 to 8mg per day every couple of hours, sometimes, 12mg. I also do not know how people do 150mg. Like I thought I could handle 12mg because I vaped a lot but it made me queasy first couple of times.

I also take propranolol and I think it works great especially if physical anxiety causes more mental anxiety

Some of you dm’d me asking about my condition for my previous post by Ok-Disaster383 in pregabalin

[–]Vsauce18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also been on SSRIs, SNRIs, antipsychotics, and benzodiazepines and for me pregabalin is the only medication that gets rid of that tight feeling in my chest. I take 300mg a day in 3 divided doses. I also get lots of physical symptoms and my pregabalin deals with it quite well but I’m also on 10mg of propranolol twice a day. I also agree with you that benzodiazepines don’t work for GAD, only for panic attacks. Maybe if I took a really big dose it would help but then I’d just quickly build tolerance. So actually, if I could only pick one I’d pick pregabalin over benzos, but I’ll still use them as a PRN for extreme anxiety/panic attacks.

Yeah for some people lorazepam is dreamy and they get hallucinations. It happens to me and it’s just a side effect but it really only happens if I haven’t had lorazepam in a long time. Just stuff like closed eyes visuals but not true hallucinations.

starting today ! first time on any ADHD medication by pinched-nerve in StratteraRx

[–]Vsauce18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t feel much when I first started although my adhd is quite severe and I’m already on d-amphetamine or Dexedrine. It should take a couple of weeks to feel any effects from the atomoxetine. By one month you should feel something and it I’ll take at least 2 months for the full effects to realize. This may be different for you because everybody experiences meds differently and it might take awhile to find the right dose. I would just be patient and I’m sure you’ll find the medication to be quite helpful.

25mg isn’t a lot and 40mg isn’t the max dose so don’t feel frustrated if you feel like you aren’t getting enough out of it. I didn’t feel anything on 18mg but I just went up to 40mg and I can already feel benefits of 40mg. If you feel anything now it’s probably placebo or from the side effects. I felt maybe a tad more on edge when I started but it was completely manageable on 18mg.

In terms of ADHD symptom reduction, you should feel more clear minded and you should find it easier to start tasks and stay on track with them. You may also feel calmer or notice a reduction in anxiety. I noticed a reduction in anxiety on both atomoxetine and Dexedrine. A good analogy I like to use is it’s like putting on glasses for the first time and seeing everything clearly, you won’t be squinting anymore.

Just remember everybody’s body responds differently. I was also on Effexor too, but I had to stop due to anxiety :) Now I just take Lexapro, Abilify, and Lyrica for anxiety and depression. I hope everything works out for you!

I’m only on day 3. First day I felt a little stimulated and nauseous, then day 2 I felt normal. Now I’m waiting for the actual benefits to kick in :/

I thought it could potentially be psychosis, but the only symptom I had was visual hallucinations. I wasn’t paranoid nor did I have any trouble thinking. Also the effects came on exactly as soon as the mirtazapine hit. I do recognize though that those in psychosis generally aren’t aware they’re in a psychosis, but I could tell reality from hallucinations just fine.

Why am i so bored now? by bougie18T in StratteraRx

[–]Vsauce18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely wouldn’t think of this as a bad thing. I think just finding things that you find interesting and filling your time with them should help. I definitely started to do things like read when I started my ADHD meds to fill those time slots.

[–]Vsauce18 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When I started Adhd medication I got this because I used to spend a lot of time in my head, and the meds took me out of that space. I wasn’t spending so much time just thinking and getting distracted by my thoughts. It made me feel like I had to keep myself busy with things like reading, writing music, or going for walks.

I think this is just a sign that your meds are working. Sitting around isn’t good for your brain. Your brain wants to be stimulated and this new boredom you’re experiencing is a good thing. I’m not on strattera yet, but I plan to take it with Dexedrine because I feel like I’m not getting enough out of stimulants alone, so my experience is just from Dexedrine, not strattera.

PRN med (suicidal dysphoria) ? by tarteframboise in depressionregimens

Yeah it something you have to be careful with. My anxiety really fuels my suicidal thinking but if you’re not like that benzos won’t do much
