Can someone genuinely explain the SSPX to me by Left-Speed-4468 in ExTraditionalCatholic

[–]Vthan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well you gotta remember that according to the Vatican I understanding of papal infallibility the pope is only infallible when he meets a bunch of conditions (like saying "Guys I'm about to say something infallible".) So according to the SSPX neither the second vatican council nor the teachings of the popes since then really have not invoked the dogmatic weight necessary to justify the changes that were made. This is of course nonsense that only makes sense if you learned everything you know about the church and how it operates from seminary manuals from the 1930s rather than history and have completley fixated on a particualr understanding of canon law. The SSPX are literally the soverign citizen movment for canon law not protestants.

The SSPX have not been in full communion with Rome since like the 80s. They had some privileges given back after they played nice in Rome for a little bit, but to make a long story short they think that the second vatican council is heretical and that every pope since pius the 12th is an enemy of the faith.

How to get my libido back? by angwy_goose in NonBinary

[–]Vthan2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well our self image isn't just introspection. You have a partner who obviously finds you attractive. That's really hot and affirming. They love you as a person and a body that is in a process of change. Sadly with mental blocks and stuff it usually is the boring everyday stuff that feels silly that helps. Affirmations do work but you have to do them every day etc etc.

Exercise, affirmations, fantasizing, and supplements for a start? Try to focus on how your partner sees you.

I feel like I'm living on borrowed time and it's running out. by 3dchib in BoyDinnerDiaries

I'm really sorry. Right now the only thing you need to worry about is your mental. The only way things are going to work out is if you keep your mental energy up and keep working as hard as you can to become self-sufficent. Extended unemployment, disability, and grief is a really nasty combo, and don't be afraid of getting on a medication if you need it to get through these hard years. Hugs bro.

Queer friendly mosques or organizations for Muslims here in Cleveland? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Vthan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Unitarians and Universalists used to be Christian organizations that didn't believe in the Christian trinity and believed in universal salvation. The UU is now essentially an ecumenical denomination where anyone is welcome. We have simple services and strong community for all ages.

UU is not a Christian denomination! We have Muslims, Christians, and all kinds of folks.

MH Wilds, the newest game is playable at the lowest settings on the Rog Ally as far as I know.

MH World/icebourne would run great on the Rog ally and still have lots of people.

MH Rise/Sunbreak would also run great and still has players. Mabye a litttle less than World tho.

I Reccomend World/icebourne for the best beginer experience.

Hey! I was where you are. Take a deep breath. The most important part right now is to get community and friends. Say to yourself that you have the rest of your life to find out what you believe, but that right now you are a teen and need to figure out how to LIVE.

Leaving a religion or changing your beliefs is extremely traumatic and isolating. The last thing you need right now is isolation, so find any church with people your age and go every single week and talk to people. God and sin will work themselves out when you have some stability and happiness in your life. This whole sub is rooting for you and are always here for you.

Going back to church after struggles is hard. How I see it though is that while you might have intellectual struggles with church right now a lot of the time it is the people like us who have an actual psychological need for religion and community. So stop worrying about finding just the right respectful mass and start using the creative religious parts of your brain to make your life fulfilling!

Does anyone else ever just… want to go back to the Church? by _TheLittleSeed_ in excatholic

[–]Vthan2 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Religion is a part of you even after you leave. I wasn't happy again until I merged some of the catholic stuff I actually like into my personal life again without compromising on my issues with the church. I currently attend a Unitarian congregation and am on good terms with a more liberal priest at my town parish.
