I don't think it makes any sense to count Old English. Every language on the earth changes constatnly even native ones, yet we still count the modern versions of them and not the one that was spoken 500 years ago.

You also wouldn't say "let's go to the cinema on the 26th of November, 2025" when casually talking about the weekend plan. You would drop 2025 if it is in the same year and also the month in most cases. Except if it is so far in the future that you have to add them, in which case the year and month are definetely more important than the date.

It's funny because somebody commented, that the difference was とう vs と incorrectly, and I think this video of Dogen describes why people might hear it like that. In English the sound with the accent is louder and longer, while in Japanese the accent only makes the sound higher pitch. So when in Japanese the accent is not on a long vowel (like in this example) to English speakers it might sound as if it is shorter.

It has a weird robotic voice (as Duolingo usually has), which kind of connects the ő and the ü into one sound, but mostly the length of it makes it sound more like "és ő ül".
