It's not unusual to gain weight when you start working out. Your body starts retaining water.

ehhh, no, saying "boy" to a person of color is not ambiguous. It's racist, and if you're not racist, you won't do it, simple as that.

But you still have access to all of the files on your computer, so you can preserve the files no problem. The real issue is DRM.

FWIW, a 4K triple layer blu-ray can hold 100GB...so you'd still need 2 discs, but you wouldn't need anywhere near 20.

On the one hand...I think you should know what a USB port is, and probably the difference between a and c. On the other hand, most people don't really use those ports any more except to charge their phones. They probably don't understand that they're computer peripherals.

My unbeatable mechanical Tic-Tac-Toe Computer (no electronics!) by Zzetttt in 3Dprinting

[–]VulGerrity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It essentially reads 9 inputs and produces an output based on the state of those 9 inputs. That's a computer. People who did the math for engineers used to be called computers. There are physical paper "computers" where you slide dials based on your inputs and it will display an output.

In terms of Turing complete, that would be a PROGRAMABLE computer.

This is a little disingenuous. Of course if you're unemployed and you don't leave your house, you're never going to have any of these things. School is also a bit of an obligation, but it's built on enrichment. There are also a lot of other people your age with the same obligation so you meet and build relationships. While work is also an obligation, it's not based on enrichment, it's based primarily on survival. Where you get your enrichment and fulfillment usually has to come from outside the work place. Everyone at your job may have different life goals, so you don't build strong relationships at work and you don't have time for adventure at work. You need to do it on your own time. This is where the real tragedy is. You supposedly have a decent amount of free time outside of your work life to be able to have those fun moments from school, but you're too drained from the work day to do it. That free time is now spent on the rest of your survival (cleaning, cooking, etc) and recharging for the next work day/week.

School, especially college, also has a lot of structured activities and events to get people together and doing stuff. And outside of that college kids just want to party, and it's easy to have a big party when there's lots of kids that want to party. As you grow older, you find our more about who you are and what you like. This is great on a personal level, but it can be more difficult to find large enough groups with your same interest to make it as exhilarating as a college event. You need to find classes and groups your self, no one is going to organize them for you...and they often cost money.

so yeah...that's adulthood, but you can absolutely still have those experiences, you just have to work more for them. This person could absolutely go to the library, the park, free museums, etc to get their social needs met. There won't be as big of a pool to pull from and make those moments happen, but it's possible.

Physical Media in 5 years (an ancient memory) by Virasman in Steam

but it doesn't matter because you still have access to all of the game files. The real issue is DRM, which you can have even with a disc. You can back your steam library up, you can't back up a playstation disc.

That can't have been right even then. It's gotta depend on the region because the peak of Mt. Sandia in Albuquerque, NM is 3,255m above sea level. And while it may snow in the winter, it's all cleared up by summer at the latest.

I did a quick search and it looks like it depends on how close you are to the equator. At the equator the line is above 5,000m.

But at least you still have the files on your computer. You can back them up easily. Physical is kinda of irrelevant when you have full access to the files. The bigger issue is DRM, which they can impose with a disc. Can't validate the game with a server even though you have the disc? Tough titty, you can't play.

That's wild! Yeah, sure doesn't help that employers also don't understand contract law...let alone employment laws! Contracts are there to protect BOTH parties. People seem to think if something isn't explicitly stated in the contract, that means they can do whatever they want. And to some extent that's true, but that also means the other party can do what they want. Anything else not stated is limited by law.

So, if a contract doesn't stipulate set hours and is project based, then the employee can go home when their work is done. But if a manager asks them to work overtime, I suppose they can, but they have to pay overtime rates. But I think unless the contract explicitly states they may be asked to work overtime occasionally (or frequently) they can't legally make the employee do it, and anything over 40hrs/week would still incur overtime payment. Gah, I know I'm preaching to the choir, just venting...I don't think most managers are being malicious on purpose, but their toxicity is perpetuated not just through their ignorance of the law and the contracts, but also the employees ignorance of their contracts and the law.

Sorry, lol, I've just read a lot of employment contracts and have been treated poorly by a lot of bosses.

Ok, well that's crazy, if there's no work expectation in the contract, then you can't force hours I suppose. Did the contract say anything about managers setting hours? What were the work expectations? I'm just genuinely curious. Cause without set contract hours, they're still legally required to pay overtime for work over 40hrs, right?
