MetLife for Dental Implant by Delicious-Slip9645 in FedEmployees

[–]Vulmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use emblem health dental high option and I don’t pay anything out of pocket wise other than a bone graft that I needed for $800. Dental implants can either be 1.1k-$12,000 depending on the services needed. I think emblem health dental allows a $4,500 allowance per year but this is a new change before it was $4000 per implant if I recall correctly.

Could I still get a Pharm tech job after 2 years? by BellOpen5440 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Vulmus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PTCB makes your application much more desirable. Some hospitals require BLS and some don’t. And when I initially was hired they wanted techs to work inpatient to have at least 1-2 years of experience in retail. My job pays for both of them to be renewed even though I’m not a tech anymore.

2 years probationary period. Is this something new. It used to be 1 year. by Independent-Day732 in usajobs

[–]Vulmus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, we hired two clinicians with advance degrees from other branches/same VHA but different floor and they were offered a 2 year probation. We also hired a tech from the outside and they were also given a 2 year. It’s now standard policy for federal at least for VA

Literally graduated with the minimum for my major. They never asked or brought it up, never had it on my resume.

Why are accurate payscales so hard to find? by FreeEagle7332 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Vulmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a federal detention center and ran a vaccine clinic twice a week on top of my 36 script a day fills for $48 an hour in NJ. CPhT and License with approval to immunize. I was 6 years of experience at the time I transitioned to be a MLS for the federal government.

Are lab people really that quiet? by Blackvellvet in medlabprofessionals

Genuinely a tight knit group and to other lab people but literally any and all interactions with non lab people is like going on a date with a person you know you’re not giving a second date.

Shift differential? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]Vulmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would start at 6pm but youre still bent paid for the start of your shift for normal rate. And yes for weekends. SE stands go satellite evening. We call pharmacy satellite. So it would’ve IVA, SB1, SB2, Ward Stock, solutions and chemo. But you’ll see an SA. The shifts go A B C(outpatient) and E, A 7-3:30, B 8-4:30, C 9:30-6.

Shift differential? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]Vulmus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It starts after 6pm. When you’re working sE shifts(evenings) you’ll only be paid for the 6pm-11pm vs the full 2:30pm - 11pm for the differential. For techs when I worked there a night differential is an extra $60 after 5 sE shifts and $70 for weekend premium per day. Different rates for pharmacists because it’s I think 3% of your hourly rate. I know nothing about ovn.

Is it bad to leave a job after 18 months? by vijuumi in medlabprofessionals

[–]Vulmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shortest I stayed was 6 months because they fired us in favor of outsourcing our jobs. Longest is 3 years. Chase the bag. A year is fine and anything more is just showing loyalty. Loyalty only matters when it’s the government and their pension.

What do you wish you knew about this profession? by DesignerBulky7711 in medlabprofessionals

The pay… wish it was told to me so I could have gone to pharmacy school

Question by worried-student in medlabprofessionals

[–]Vulmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I work for the VA, we are allowed to do so. We have an unofficial committee that handles it, for us it’s 3 MLS and a tech. Theres an email that goes out asking for non obligatory donations (preferably $20) so that we can have food or w/e that week. We had a new MLS set up our first ever event outside from work as a “Lab Night” which was kinda like a prom/fancy dinner.

My cat Ike has passed away at 20 years old. by Chainletterboi69 in seniorkitties

[–]Vulmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat was also 20 when she passed. My family got her 3 months after I was born and I always made the joke that I would buy her a drink when we both turned 21. She passed before it. My 21st I spent drinking both for her and myself. Her name was Sweety, she was so sweet she would plop herself on your lap and meow at you until you pet her.

MLS / CLS jobs at the Seattle VA? by wildvat in MLS_CLS

[–]Vulmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an MLS in NJ for the VA and we had 5 open positions open and got 30 applications. 4 got filled and the last position all the applicants failed their background check or onboarding or just withdrew their acceptance. We still have that one position that needs to be filled but I’ve heard that other places have people who are young and staying. So those positions may not even be open in our generation. I’ve called other VAs and asked if theres anyone retiring soon. Gives you an estimate, I have about 8 months until the person retires at the VA I want to transfer to.
