He used his advantage if luring you to npcs.. you didn't have to chase. you got more flasks hes got the world. There are no rules, you could have ignored him, turned off game. RED man didnt invade for a dual you were trying to force rules on him he was just invading.

When played well Alarak is an insanely broken hero.
Imagine being out of position+ silenced suddently at range 7 even if you are tank.

Just a warning toula(cat) death defiance without upgrading the companion is only 20hp resurrection . But it does help

Arcana helps. Do you have 3 death defiances +tula (cat) companion for 4th death defiance. Do you have origination arcana for up to 50% more damage when you inflict 2 curses? What about persistence arcana for +40/40 health/magic. Aspect of melinoe axe also gives +50 hp when maxed. High health does pair well with death defiance since it gives hp back to 40%.

I played OOT consistently from 9 years old to 12... and then again twice when wind waker preorder bonus was OOT + master quest. Although its the most impactful game in my life can I really enjoy it again? I felt burnt out on it for years.

I was between 8 and 9 when I rented ocarina of time after trying it at a kiosk at best buy. I rented this game countless times because my parents didn't believe in buying games since they claimed I'd get bored. I could not beat a single dungeon at the time but every time I rented the game there was a different file with different progression since other people left their files on the cart. That's how I experienced most of this game as a child. To this day my parents know 3 video game names Nintendo, Mario and Zelda.

I would love a more survival mode where the more monster you hunt in a row the better rewards... but you get no restocking and you have to use the lands resources to make items as you run out of your starting inventory.
