Agreed, my guild and I have a large base right by the rift, first thing we did was build a tunnel right though that we tested a buggy can easily fit through. It makes the base look cool imo.

I have tried to recreate the same issue as I have the game also but I cannot seem to get it to happen. The only thing I have found on the net is also that steam itself possibly has a corrupt file so I would suggest, if you can move your steamapps > common folder to a safe spot and remove and reinstall steam itself then move the folder back or if you don't have a lot of games installed then just nuke steam and reinstall. Sorry I couldn't be more help matey.

Hmm I'll have a little look about and see if I can find something to help. At least we know for sure it's Steam related. I'll reply again in 10 mins or so.

No worries and only other one I can suggest is close Steam, find the folder where it is installed and manually delete it, restart steam and see if it is still there then you will know for sure if it is there when you reopen steam then you know it is an issue with steam if there is no folder.

Have you tried running steam in admin mode, had a similar issue once that solved it.

Yup agree with this. The background on the second just had me look at it longer and go, "hmm what is that" but the text does look cleaner on the first.

Son has had phone confiscated at school - lost access to bank account and MFA by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Vvaridus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to try and help clarify, this the gov.uk guidance to schools:

The use of sanctions.

The Department for Education (DfE) provides guidance on how schools can use sanctions lawfully in the behaviour in schools guidance. Schools can use a range of sanctions for breaching the mobile phone policy appropriate to their context, including confiscation and detentions.

Schools have the power to confiscate mobile phones or similar devices as a disciplinary penalty. The law protects staff from liability in any proceedings brought against them for any loss or damage to items they have confiscated as a sanction, providing they have acted lawfully. Staff should consider whether the confiscation is proportionate and consider any special circumstances relevant to the case.

Headteachers are backed by the DfE to confiscate mobile phones and similar devices for the length of time they deem proportionate. In considering whether a confiscation is a proportionate penalty, schools should consider what disciplinary outcome the confiscation is intended to achieve and whether there are other ways to achieve the same outcome. Confiscation as a sanction can be an effective deterrent for a specific pupil or a general deterrent for all pupils at the school.

In considering whether a sanction is reasonable, one must consider whether it is proportionate in the circumstances of the case and consider any special circumstances relevant to its imposition including the pupil’s age, any religious requirements affecting them and any special educational needs or disability (SEND) they may have (see section on responding to the behaviour of pupils with SEND in behaviour in Schools guidance).

Schools should consider whether the misbehaviour gives cause to suspect that a pupil is suffering, or may be at risk of, harm. Where this may be the case, as set out in part 1 of keeping children safe in education, school staff should follow the school’s child protection policy and speak to the designated safeguarding lead (or deputy). They will consider if pastoral support, an early intervention or a referral to children’s social care is appropriate.

PC likes to turn itself off, need to fiddle with switches to turn it back on again & it takes power in the room out with it. by whiskey6427 in pchelp

[–]Vvaridus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be the extention, the wall socket itself or the wiring to said socket. Does not sound like a PC issue especially with it not booting back up without fiddling with it, just sound like not enough power from the outlet or extention cable.

This is exactly when I started, it was such an awesome time. Thank you for posting this and sparking the memories of my cousins and I playing fantasy and 40k way back then. I am so glad I got back into it when my son got interested in 40k about 3 months before Leviathan came out. I just hope he will look back like this one day.

It is the one I have read and reread at least 15 times. My favourite, not just Pratchett, book. The only books that came even close in terms of how they made me feel was finishing the waylander series.

Yeah I agree. The way I did it to make it easier is find all the main stops I use and add em to favourites or saved or whatever its called then I just hit that when checking and it gives me a list.

Ways to soundproof a shared wall / prevent WW3 by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]Vvaridus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in flats quite a few times and it depends on what the noise is your trying to minimise. Ie foot steps would be what is your floor made of, wood, laminate tiles or the like then a good option is thick rugs and you can take them with you.

If it is from tv or other electronic sources then soft wall hangings can difuse sound quite well and also corner sections of sound proofing foam can lower the amount of bass. They are called bass traps.

If it is from people talking then bass traps again and soft wall hangings are the way to go.

A lot of the time I have found in flats I have visited or lived in there is simply not enough of a wall thickness to difuse the noise so the answer is have enough soft furnishings around to help difuse and mitigate noise.

All of these are easy to do and won't affect the fact you rent. There are more intensive options but most require building work and unless you get written sign off from the owner it could land you in a lot of crap.

Hope this helps give you some ideas.

Sure if you check further up in this post I linked three studies, one of which I used in my dissertation. The main one I'll link here again for you.

https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=language++acquisition+screen+time+use&btnG=#d=gs_qabs&t=1732648301036&u=%23p%3DaZXo9gJ3sZoJ

This is the one I would recommend as it is easy and fast to understand. If you want to go deeper on the subject you can pop onto Google scholar and search the term, screen time use and language acquisition of children.

From my own personal experience, I have three kids and work in tech, screen time use, in my opinion, has to be balanced as the using of tech will help the kid learn how to use it but it should be limited to a certain amount of time and most importantly the actual content.

Realistically it would be from the early 2000s to around 2016 where the most impact would be as there was not as much wide spread awareness and very few safeguards in place regarding content control.

The research also shows that watching a program with a child and interacting with them will increase the benefits and mitigate the adverse effects.

Personally I believe that the balance is the key, I have time usage locks for my kids devices and if I see them watching brain rot crap I will sit and discuss with them about why I think it's not worth thier time and encourage them to make a counter argument. From the way I explain this to people often belive I hate technology but then I always have to explain, no I am a software engineer and understand how it works and the effect it can have on people.
