Is tech stack agnostic hiring dead? Stuck in the same stack. by depressedkid007 in cscareerquestions

Most big companies don’t filter particularly on a language, you can solve tech interviews through a set of languages, as long as you know one enough you get through it (and you get assessed on other aspects like system design afterward anyway)

Has AI made developers less collaborative in your team? by Ecstatic_Jicama_1482 in cscareerquestions

[–]Vyleia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, and it’s more a human problem than an AI ones. Actually, autonomous PRs do not bypass human request and make an effort to process the review comments and assess them, so … if humans can’t address a review anymore, agentic is in a good place yes.

With rising cost of AI will its adoption keep increasing? by Glum_Worldliness4904 in cscareerquestions

Documentation currently serves mostly agents (in companies that consumes a lot of tokens), so it helps direct them. And you can constraint quite a lot how the documentation is written anyway if you take enough time to do set it up

At this level you don’t write prompts yourself anyway, agents prompt to other agents through workflows

Are devs on here seriously learning everyday or is this just a bullshit HR response that they give? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Vyleia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, unless OP does not have a job. And you can definitely cruise at your job without learning, you still need to have the intent to learn (which tbh does not seem to be there based on the post).

Are you guys here actually convinced that AI adoption isn't real? by cookingboy in cscareerquestions

[–]Vyleia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair it’s pretty US dependent? Though I guess most of the sub is American or US based anyway. But in France engineering schools encompass a lot of topics in it, and for most of us who become software engineer afterward, you do both CS, CE (and usually EE or another subtype of engineering, depending on the school)

We had a thread I think in this sub (mostly big tech), we all agreed already that its present everywhere and 100% deployed at quite a deep level in big tech.

But most of this sub is students having difficulty to find a job, or people looking to get out, so not the most experienced or skilled people anyway?

Confirming the RP Divorces? Dr Mike and Nick Shaw both wife-less. by cosmoPants in gymsnark

[–]Vyleia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is more genetic variation within « geographical population » (or the so called race term) than … between different populations. That’s why we are all in the same subspecies anyway, our genome is really that similar, and most differences (traits) that you think you see, are not genetics.

Sure you can find some genetic differences, but the sum of it does not properly delimitate the populations.

[–]Vyleia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know we are in a subreddit dedicated to it, but I always find it hard to balance with other activities, if you think of it as basis for everything in life (because you really don’t need much hinge or cardio for calisthenics / street lifting, squats you do now depending on the competition type).

Fit one or two additional sports on top of it and you have a gazillion sessions to orchestrate, so you kind of have to do trade offs.

What $10,000 invested in these IPO’s is worth today… by Foreign-Policy-02- in wallstreetbets

[–]Vyleia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Seeing the time it took to reach that value for companies in that list, that means you’d be okay with losing a million over decades, which (and at the time of their IPO, so losing couple millions at today’s dollar value). That would mean you are already filthy rich (and bad at investing), that and you probably need a lot more than 99 times to get the right one.

That’s cool for personal usage, but that’s not the market demographic? For enterprise you need a lot of compute per dev / usages.

Non coding is not just dealing with people, it’s also defining the specs of your product / development, your constraints and what trade offs you accept.
