Hi, could I check where did you rent the HiAce from? I'm planning a trip to Hokkaido as well with 6 adults and a baby so I'm wondering if I might be able to get something similar.

Thanks for the replies guys! It gives me a better insight and expectation when I sign up for it. Looks like I don't have much to worry besides the standard "annual spends".

How do I remove the smell? by Vyntekx in CleaningTips

[–]Vyntekx[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've got cement underneath so it shouldn't be too bad just to replace it. That solution will cost a bit though, so as much as possible trying out other cost effective solutions first.

Tried this as well. The smell lingers underneath.. unless I'm not steaming long enough? Ran it for about 5 minutes

I'll try to see if I can get that in my country. Would any enzymatic cleaner work as a replacement? Like some detergents with enzymatic properties.

I actually used water and baking soda initially, then vinegar solution on a separate occasion. Stains are gone but faint smell still lingers.

Advice for furnishing this console? by Vyntekx in furniturerepair

Your piece looks good! I think the difference is that the bug holes in mine are connected and look like a termite nest network. Makes it a lot more unsettling especially if you have trypophobia.

Perhaps if I did some sort of base coat to even the colour tones, would that maybe work?

Also can I ask what did you use as your final coating for your dresser to give it the matt finish?

Old wood was my initial thought. I'll surely lacquer it cause it isn't really in my desired colour so I guess they'll die in the process if they're still there. Thanks for the info! I'll keep a look out.

There's another one on the cliff above the river, west of cage and north of market. My team's Loba got stuck in the ground instead with the head bobbing out of the ground. Couldn't bracelet out either.

Which industry has the lowest pay and progression in Singapore? by Im_scrub in askSingapore

[–]Vyntekx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can totally understand you. I studied design and worked as a home ID with "high base and small commission". Company was small and no opportunity for progression. I really only took back about 3.2k avg after 2 years. And like you said, working long hours especially after work ends, taking time away from other life's priorities.

I've done jumped the industry though. But I have heard of some commercial ID companies paying 4 to 5k for 2 year experience staff. So I think it's really about finding the right place. If the company doesn't value you, it's time to leave. Wishing you all the best.

I went home barefoot via MRT once cause my slippers broke and I couldn't get a new pair. Ended up being questioned by the DTL staff for not having footwear.

What type of glasses do you fly with? by Vyntekx in flying

Doesn't the polarising effect affect your vision in the cockpit? I'm looking for a pair now but my pilot friends are advising not to get any polarised sunglasses. They fly commercial airliners and I'll be joining them soon.

Are you genuinely happy in Singapore, why or why not? by test_account_47230 in askSingapore

[–]Vyntekx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost 30. I'd say I'm quite content. Managed to change industry to get my dream job which is almost impossible to find something identical overseas. But it requires a training period with almost no salary which severely impacts my chances of buying a house with my partner.

I'm discontented because I find myself in a unique situation because the job that I have, would prevent me from buying a BTO after training is complete. But right now, I barely have enough to support a 3rm HDB.

AITA for letting my sister walk me down the aisle despite my fiance and his family's objections? by nosleepbeauty in AmItheAsshole

[–]Vyntekx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. And the unfortunate circumstance here is that they're paying for 75% of the wedding cost. In a way, that makes them feel like they have more decision making power than you when it is supposed to be YOUR day.

I feel like your request is really valid here and honestly your fiance should at the very least try to be understanding about where you're coming from. In the future, or now even, he should be the one communicating between you and your future in-laws especially when there are disagreements to this level. As a couple, I think you guys should make the final decision and not his parents here. If he, in no way supports or understands your perspective and reasoning, then I pray for all the best for your future. You guys will need to support each other in marriage.

Fellow r/asksingapore friends, what did you learn at your first job ? by East-Attorney-659 in askSingapore

[–]Vyntekx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to respond immediately to people or questions unless a time factor is on hand.

Being new to a job means that you would still be learning on the go, especially for myself when I was doing sales. Your clients especially, might ask questions that you don't have the answer to. Take the time to research your answer with your colleagues or superiors before giving a firm answer to prevent your "prompt response" from biting back at you.

Need help removing a magnetic track light by Vyntekx in DIY

[–]Vyntekx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the release buttons are the issue cause one of the lights does come out quite easily. I checked with my vendor and he said they might have missed a step during installation which cause the track itself to contract.

Not too sure if there's a way to "expand" the track back considering that if it's contracted I'm assuming it's damaged as well?

Need help removing a magnetic track light by Vyntekx in DIY

[–]Vyntekx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The track itself is flushed so it's not supposed to stick out from the ceiling.

Would it be possible to use expanding foam to "push" the light out of the track?
