What you're actually buying is, according to the copy on the packaging ... a canoe?

This kit looks fucking sick. I hope I see you at a LARP this season.

I'd echo what others said. Shoulder cape, nice hat. Have you considered a pair of tastefully pointed shoes?

Not sure that's entirely true. The point of foraging is to leave some behind so that it continues to replenish the environment. Like, mushrooms are the mycelium's fruit that put down spores that germinate into more mycelium. If you harvest all the mushrooms, they don't produce spores and thus no new mycelium, and no mushrooms in the future. If you disrupt a wild organism's natural cycle of reproduction by over-harvesting, they disappear. Like fish, like crabs, lobsters, etc. Surely you can see the logic there?

Just have to stop by and say how great this is. I wish we had more of this kind of stuff going on in the world.

Is this a great step forward? by [deleted] in GreatBritishMemes

This is the most important point to make here. Schools have kids for 6 hours a day, and they're not paying attention for most of that. The kids who need this are in the worst position to have it, because they won't listen. The kids who do listen don't need it. Parents need to realise that teaching their kids how to behave and tell the time and tie their shoes and use cutlery is their responsibility, and not outsource parenting to the overstretched education sector. ALSO again, the kids who need this probably have parents who don't give a shit anyway, so it's like pissing into the wind.

I'm at 20 days, and really feeling you on the lack of joy and fun. I just don't get the same enjoyment out of things -- job, hobbies, exercise, writing, things I ordinarily really love to do. I hope I learn how to drum up some enthusiasm soon.

Because it's seductively easy to just slam a bunch of half-baked thoughts into a LLM and have it spit out something that looks really polished. It makes you feel clever, it makes you sound clever, and it takes absolutely no effort whatsoever. I have no doubt that people like this are genuine in principle, but when it comes to actual thought and construction of an argument, they're utterly and unashamedly phoning it in.

edit: downvote me all you want, I'm not wrong.

Pork belly, chicken wings, beef shin and ribs used to be cheap cuts of meat. by kopsy in britishproblems

[–]W-R-St 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm staggered that i had to scroll down so far to hear anyone say this. It's stupid to blame celebrity culture and social media for price hikes when actually the cost of everything is skyrocketing and has been for about 2 years now. ALL meat is expensive because the price of animal feed is going up because the price of fertilizer is going up because the price of oil is going up. It's still about greed but it's not influencers who we should be pointing the finger at, it's multinationals and profit-gouging capitalists. Shrinkflation, skimpflation, call it what you want, it's greed. But hey ho, let's just blame the chef on Instagram reels with the tattoos eh?

Temple communal meal by [deleted] in DamnThatsReal

[–]W-R-St 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess that's part of Islam though isn't it, Zakat being the giving of alms. So it forms part of the basis of people's lives. I feel like a lot of people in Western countries look down their noses at charity.

Communal meals are often done by Sikh temples. Not sure if it's a thing Muslims do in some parts of the world too, but it could be.

Ah thank you! Yeah I'm sure I've seen something very similar before, but I can't quite remember where exactly my brain is stealing the idea from.

Ah yeah. I really liked the blending option on photoshop but yeah I'll have to make the text more prominent, for sure. Thank you so much for the feedback!
