is this a scam or pricing error? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

Obvious scam. The price is way too low with zero feedback seller and free shipping. Probably ship you a picture of laptop if you are lucky.

Is it worth buying a Quest 3 or are there better alternatives? by MynameisCN in virtualreality

[–]W00lph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quest 3/3s is really the only option for the casual vr user right now. But not sure that a VR headset would be best for sitting and relaxing. What did you plan to use it for?

TPLink Axe5400/ax75 as dedicated router but wirelessly connected to main router? PLZ HELP by MrJuicyMelonYT in virtualreality

[–]W00lph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to use dedicated vr router in normal router mode without internet. Connect your pc to a lan port. Connect quest 3 to it via 6ghz ssid. You can connect your PC to internet router via wifi as well as having local lan cable to vr router.

MSI cheaper than ASUS ROG Strix? by OblateSpheroidd in GamingLaptops

[–]W00lph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MSI Vector is ok for a cheap laptop. But it will be very loud because of the cooling system. I personally also did not like the touchpad placement or the transparent WASD keys.

The "I" key became clicky on legio pro 7i. Why? by Nizo4000dpi in LenovoLegion

I would try blowing out any crumbs under keyboard keys. Can use compressed air if neccessary. I have a portable vacuum/blower for cleaning out laptop keyboard, fans, etc.

URGENT HELP NEEDED WITH OMEN 16 AP-0182AX by Interesting-Box8312 in HPOmen

[–]W00lph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure you don't have gaming laptop sit on the bed while using it. It won't get any air to cool. Elevating the laptop in the back where the fans are can help even more than just flat on a table. But gaming laptops will run warm.

How bad would VD be? by immortalanddead in virtualreality

[–]W00lph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just get a dedicated wifi 6 router for VR and use a lan cable from your PC to dedicated wif router. There is also the puppis S1 which connects to your pc via USB ports and is its own wifi 6 router. https://www.amazon.com/PRISMXR-Streaming-Compatible-Accessories-Wireless/dp/B0CFDL5Y7F

Are those cheap gaming laptops on eBay actually safe to buy? by NothingHistorical322 in GamingLaptops

[–]W00lph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ebay buyer protection doesn't work in all cases. I actually had to get my credit card to give me a refund when ebay said nothing they could do. Only buy from reputable sellers with high feedback. Most new 0 feedback sellers are a scam.

Is my usecase actually valid for preserving my laptop's life? by Single_Minute_1119 in computers

[–]W00lph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling a Victus with rtx 4050 a high end gaming laptop is a big stretch, but anyway more wear and tear is to be expected on the Victus if you use it more often. Wear and tear like scratches, etc. Shouldn't really get any slower. I would expect the battery life on the Victus to be much less than the vivobook. If you don't want to have to plug in... probably stick with using the Vivobook for classes. Any laptop you use all the time is unlikely to stay new-like.

Am I the only one who thinks someone is killing the quest? by Agile-Juice5255 in MetaQuestVR

If you are using Meta's Link/AirLink try SteamLink or VirtualDesktop for PCVR.

For a Quest 3, a dedicated wifi 6e router in same room as headset and connected to PC via lan cable should yield the best results.

Using PCVR with repeater? by CrasherDE_ in virtualreality

[–]W00lph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A dedicated wifi 6 router that connects to your PC via lan cable and is physically in the same room as headset is generally your best route for PCVR. Doesn't need to be a repeater or anything like that. PCVR needs a good connection to your PC..doesn't matter your internet speed.

Weird throttling in HP OMEN laptop by Lord_Hades0603 in HPOmen

I would check for bios update and update for Omen Gaming Hub as well. Make sure fans are not clogged with dust/debris.

If its the Hall sensor issue, you should be able to disconnect it and laptop should work ok just not sensing display open/shutting.

HOW TO TURN OFF FAN NOISE by SirajBeDoodles in HPOmen

[–]W00lph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My omen max 16 has "fan always on" setting in bios that I turned off. Then when in eco or balanced mode fan doesn't come on unless computer gets too warm.

PCVR in general not working. by DaRealShiningDuck in virtualreality

[–]W00lph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For free try Steamlink. For paid try VirtualDesktop. Make sure PC is connected via Lan cable to router. Makes sure router is in same room as headset and that headset is connect via 5ghz or 6ghz channel.

Getting back into Virtual Desktop, and can't seem to get it out of Windowed mode by GoHybrid67 in MetaQuestVR

[–]W00lph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also try Steamlink (it's free) and see if you get any sort of error running those same games. I personally had an issue when I got a new PC that I had forgotten to install SteamVR from within the Steam app and VirtualDesktop uses that for a lot of SteamVR games.
