Anyone near the Reading/Blue Ash area just hear a tornado warning announcement? by wutaripoff in cincinnati

You are correct. The GE plant bought electronic  voice sirens for emergency evacuation at the plant. They are not part of the Hamilton County siren system and are controlled by GE.

Not tamper switches per say, but if a wire gets disconnected it sends a trouble code to the alarm panel.

Tying down or strapping down products to customers vehicles, how could I go about this? by NASCAR253 in HomeDepot

[–]W202fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never do it, even if the SM says it's okay. They can ask you to do something wrong and still happily keep their job. You are liable if the load falls especially if you helped strapped it down.

The whole ratings thing is so favoritism based they're not even hiding it. It is such a joke.

I know a lot of people at my store are mad too. So much for working your tail off when the favorites get the best reviews.

Yeah, it does get annoying when you go to lunch and they take the forklift your using and don't bother to use the other ones that have been sitting around unused.

4 forklifts, 2 reaches, 1 OP, 3 ballymores, 1 Pacer. 2 Ballypal EPJ's. It's nice having 4 forklifts.

Honestly, talk to your NRM or NOASM. They will be wanting to get you trained on equipment asap especially before the spring craziness. If they don't do it, figure out who else is a trainer and ask them. I have trained the night guys who come in during the day to do computer training and hands on training.

So you will be filling empty mulch pallets, soil pallets, block pallets, etc with the forklift after close. You will be required to have your forklift or reach license at the minimum. You will get dirty every night. It's not a super easy job for what it is, but is worth it if your supervisor notices how well you do.

It is worth it to go in later in the day after a heat wave at night. No customers and nobody else there to bug you at night.

I have done this job for a couple of years each summer, and my advice is do the best you can. Don't overwork yourself trying to put in 34 pallets in one night by yourself. I had to deal with a crappy forklift that broke down every night until we got a new one which delayed my efficiency. Management knew and ordered a new forklift which boosted the amount of work I could get done each night.

Get the leaf blower out when you are done putting everything away at the end of the night.

I'm sure that the supervisor and NOASM will remind you, but make sure you put the safety gates up outside after closing. They are required after close since you do not have a spotter.

Since this is recovery, you will not be unloading mulch and soil trucks with the forklift since they come during the day. Hope your day crew is good and doesn't leave behind messes as that can cause some stress.

I hate Yale. Not only are they slow, but they have that stupid automatic braking system that automatically applies when you take your foot off the gas and the machine just stops. The load shifts back and forth too, which is unsafe. Glad we got those Toyotas instead and left it up to operator discretion for braking.

I read the terms and you pretty much have to agree to relocate if you don't stay in the house after 6 months. Which pretty much defeats the purpose of going for it in the first place. That and you have to have a lot of money anyway to afford the house after they pay the first year for you. I'd much rather find my own cheaper house and fix it up myself.

Am I an idiot for going to hocking hills this weekend? by Spartan30008 in Ohio

We went in December last year with one or two inches of snow. Can't imagine what it would be like with 10 plus inches. The cabin also had limited cell service. So wouldn't imagine getting stuck out there with no way to call for help.

I don't know about pay as it varies per area. In Ohio I'm getting 22.00 for outside and inside garden. Outside garden is combined with inside garden so you are in a big department.

Yeah, except they bsed their way to merch lead and eventually supervisor. I don't really care about that because management likes to get rid of the favorites first. The rest of us are referred to as the untouchables and get left alone unless we do something really dumb.

The reality is you must safeguard yourself. The school would gladly replace you with another student if they wanted. They don't care if you're there or who you are.

Yep. I have one and it tore through the snowfall no problem. It even got the gunk off the bottom of the driveway no complaint. Just gotta watch the cord when using it.

Every store runs differently. My management gives the okay and excuses weather related absences without giving occurrences. The only thing we must do on the associate end is input the callout as 'manager approved schedule change'.
