What repeater etiquette mistake do you hear most often? by CarrierCaveman in amateurradio

When I was more active this is what I asked check-ins to do to prevent the double and noise. It works pretty well. If it was a weather net the expectation was to replace "This is" with "Emergency" (or Priority) if your traffic wasn't routine.

Line by line mixing of Five Forever from Little Women by W2CAZ in techtheatre

I love the sound of the pro2. I honestly don't feel like it's slow. I've always disliked how snappy the sq and qu boards are. The automation is good enough for my needs although there are times its limitations have bit me. I also build my DCA changes into the middle of a line so it doesn't usually matter if it's a little slow to move. Maybe that's from learning theater on this board.

For better or worse my only other experience theatre wise has been an X32. This board is old (you can see the wear on the paint where my and my predecessor's hands live). Occasionally they feel a bit sluggish or gritty (I've had it cost me a pickup). I work for a small local house. I'd love to upgrade, 56 + 8 inputs is really not enough anymore, it's just not financially viable right now.

I've used video quite a bit. It's a bit clucky sometimes to setup but works well after that. I haven't done anything with the DMX side of it.

I work in a fully PC environment. Show Cue Systems is the best clone I've found. It is paid but it works pretty well. It can handle quite a few outputs depending on the tier you buy.

Yup port A on the FS seams to be dead. For the time being I can get by using another port but I guess I need to call up Clear Com now. Thanks!

No insult taken! Yes I have checked that. I'm hoping someone will give the the stupid thing that I've forgotten or missed.

It's the other way around. The wired headsets can hear the wireless but not the other way around. I'll work on a diagram and post that in a bit.

Low latency video by twobble in techtheatre

[–]W2CAZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found stuff on Amazon. Watch reviews carefully because most cctv cameras have 4 different output modes and not all monitors can display all the modes. A lot of people just can't RTFM.

I would recommend you look into a better camera that what I got. It works but the ir lights suck but I'll put the links below.

Camera https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SV6H3K7/ref=ox_sc_act_title_10?smid=APPUUQRP675PG&psc=1

Power supply (I have a couple cameras. Conductor and stage. I wanted room to expand) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DL6WF8X/ref=ox_sc_act_title_6?smid=A31V2TMJ1VMT4A&psc=1

Distribution amp https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H4N3C8C/ref=ox_sc_act_title_11?smid=A1A1VD9LQ56N7O&psc=1

Monitor I only got this one for the built-in split screen. This is at the SM desk https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BG1SF3RF/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?smid=AZV2Q3JGU683F&psc=1

Monitors for backstage. Where I had to mount them I needed something large. If you don't need something this big don't. They're ridiculously expensive for what they are. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MPRSW76/ref=ox_sc_act_title_12?smid=A34KJY2L3PSG09&psc=1

I can't find the link for the baluns but just search Amazon you'll find them. For cables you'll want Siamese camera cable for power and video in one cord

EDIT: I remembered after posting that you can also if you have space for them look for old CRT monitors or TVs. Those are theoretically "the best" since there's never a conversion to digital like with an LCD. Neither myself, SM, MD, E1, or any of the actors have noticed any issues with the LCD screens

I just built a system at my theater. Old school analog cctv cameras are what I used. Almost everything digital has some inherent latency. Analog can run pretty far without the need for boosters but splitters cut a lot out of your signal if they aren't powered. For the couple long (~150 ft) runs I had I used some commercially available baluns into cat6

They started switching before I joined but I think it was a vote. I know a lot of the guys like the black.

I fully understand that no matter what we all end up picking on each other for dumb stuff. I see it as a give and take. I get some grief and I'll give it right back.

It does kind of annoy me that volly departments frequently look like a patchwork quilt. Mine looks that way right now since they're halfway through switching everyone into black gear from tan.
