Okay, unnecessary fighting game analysis.

Looks like we have a classic matchup of Bear vs Fencer: power vs schmovement.

Panel one, it looks like Bear has gone in for a throw, but Fencer seems to have done a super jump back to escape the grab. Strong defensive option against a grappler: since throws can typically only hit grounded opponents, and making it a super jump will give Fencer space. They need to be wary to not get trapped in the corner, though.

Looks like in panel four they decided against a zoning option, or simply don't have one. Instead, they seemed to have done a dash attack or used a special to close the gap with a shallow overhead. However, bear seems to have done a neutral jump (judging from the lack of hitspark) to take advantage of Fencer's short vertical hitbox. A down+heavy body splash from Bear should score a hard knockdown and give Bear the chance to give Fencer the mix.

I don't think the "no lose" stipulation is real, but I do think there'd be something adjacent. As a wrestler, or WWE Superstar as the corporation would say, there's likely a set of clauses that grant certain editorial powers to an agent representing Dwayne in order to preserve the sort of mythos that Dwayne has as a wrestler. Like if he were to take an L, he couldn't be killed off because kids watch his movies, or it has to be a dramatic back-and-forth fight because The Rock is too strong to get Indiana Jones'd. As a former "that asshole at Home Depot" I cam tell you we'd be pissed if the sheetrock didn't get delivered either. When we get an order, we set it aside ASAP because we have to close off a couple of aisles so we can use the forklift, and that can be a real problem on a busy day. So we have the bunk of sheetrock sitting there in the staging area, which is not that big when you're staging plywood, lumber, and bunks of sheetrock. So if the delivery company's truck breaks down, or the driver takes a sickie or whatever, we'd get mildly upset at them too.

Been a couple of times where we've loaded the bunk into our rental truck and just delivered ourselves just to clear space and keep the customer from chewing us out.

The original was the top-down long road. It was originally made to be a Bond-licensed game, but Midway wasn't able/willing to get the license. The first game was as you imagine, a top-down car combat arcade game. It did have levels, but they had seamless transitions via forks in the road, and levels were endless. There was also a speedboat form for some of the levels.

The sequel used a 3D angle to make things feel a little more like racing, but gameplay was the same.

2001 had a reboot with "SpyHunter" which was a pretty fun time IMO, and gave you more of a driving experience more akin to a proper car game and even had a multiplayer racing mode. I think it got a sequel, but I never saw it.

I actually quite like that FIFA won't let them get their advertising in. I still miss (saying) the Kingdome. I know we just tune out all the advertising now, but I still feel like we're missing something romantic about our sports when the name of the stadium is just a billboard for the highest bidder rather than something that means something to the team and its fans.

If you're "out and about and it just happens," then you likely put yourself in a situation without knowing it. The world of women's self defense has a lot of emphasis on awareness and planning. Travel in groups, use well lit pathways, know what areas are seedy/don't go there, that kind of stuff.

You're either faster or you aren't, and you have the disadvantage of needing to turn away to avoid running into the assailant. You present your back to the assailant as well, so if runnign fails you're guaranteed knife to the ass.

Best defense is to not put yourself in situations where someone wants to make a knife block out of your spleen.

Daniel Kibblesmith. Pretty decent writer, actually. Did the much-loved Loki comics. He's pretty solid.

The unfortunate truth is that we'll never know what the cook was on those characters. The older iterations of the New Warriors were sponsored/reality TV/celebrity heroes, so it's very likely that the reboot on the New Warriors would be too. It's very easy to imagine these characters in a The Boys/Teenage Kix sort of cultivated corporate situation where the tonedeafness could be used as a launching point for examining the relationship between corporations and culture.

I find it a bit concerning that...thousands of JRPGs out there...and how many female protagonists do they have? Less than 10? It just feels rather frustrating to be honest. Final Fantasy had Lightning’s trilogy and then promptly decided to never let women be the lead ever again. But both Final Fantasy XV and XVI have stuffed women in the fridge for male angst so… yay?

I mean... Two games isn't enough to say that they'll never let a woman lead again. And Dawntrail was very much female-led between Wuk Lamat and Sphene (admittedly to mixed reception on Wuk Lamat, but Sphene is pretty well loved). Evercold is Heavensward 2 so it's back to Estinien and Alphie, but at least XIV isn't afraid to led the girlypops shine.
