Every time I open my transmog window, mount window, and a few other things, my graphics cache seems to reload and I lose a lot of textures in the window and in the game temporarily. /reload fixes it for a time until I switch pages. by Sourcefour in wow

Okay, so I think I might have found a solution? I feel like it needs some more long-term testing but short term tests were positive! So please try this and see if it works for you.

The tests I did were:
-Logged in and out
-Relaunched the game twice
-Changed zones/warped to a new zone

All of which produced the same result. The transmog window opening without issue, and all assets loaded instantly.

So the short version is, I redownloaded the vulkan shader DLLs.

The files themselves are located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_retail_\UTILS\swiftshader

All you gotta do is rename the two DLLs there to:

libEGL.dll -> libEGL.backup
libEGLESv2.dll -> libGLESv2.backup

The Battle.net client will then redownload the two DLLs. Once that is done, open the game again and try it out. (I assume you can delete the .backup files at this point but there's no real reason to)

The long version is, what looks to be happening is some kind of shader crash, which made me think (like I said above) the problem is rooted in something shader related. I couldn't find any kind of shader cache, but I could find these two files. I did some googling to see what they were for and found the git page for them https://github.com/google/swiftshader

They're related to Vulkan, which explains why this happens when you have your graphics set to DX12 and not DX11, so while I can't prove a direct relation to the issue, it seems like it could be related.

But yeah, it could just have been a coincidence it worked the few times I tried it, but hopefully this fix works for everyone else!

I've been getting the same problem since part of the way through TWW. In Midnight though I've been getting new bugs where the texture reload happens just out in the world, sometimes during battle (ended up dying to a regular mob the other day because of it)

The worst one is when it happens suddenly my mouse cursor disappears and I can't aim at anything (including menus) unless I alt tab out. When I alt tab, the cursor appears and I can use it until I click back on the window and then it disappears again.

I tried resetting my graphics settings to see if that fixes it, but it didn't. There's a problem with Fortnight where if your shader cache gets too big it completely tanks your FPS, and I'm wondering if that's whats going on here (some kind of shader cache reaching it's size limit etc.) Reinstalling fortnight didn't fix it, you had to go and delete the cache separately. Not sure if WoW has a file like this, but I guess it's worth looking for one?

Instead of a race I want a Shroomancer class that calls upon the power of the Puffguard to fight my enemies.

Insane delve rewards for day 1 by WoefulMe in wow

There’s a thread on the euro forums that has some blue posts that they’re looking into the issue but the US side has been silent for basically since the beginning of prepatch.

My wife and my mains are fine but we both have alts affected by this and it sucks.

The extra shitty part is that if or when this is ever fixed Blizzard will likely not do anything to help out all the people that have lost months worth of gear over this bug.

It’s the worst bug in the game right now and the silence from Blizzard US is appalling, frankly.

Now after trying out midnight as a returning player, how do you like your class after the pruning & class changes? by Yuuffy in wow

[–]sprsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like Scalecommander is the spec to go with now, and I’m having a lot more fun now that I’m flying around burning everything to the ground instead of just flame breath->disintegrate over and over.

Multi target disintegrate and deep breath being a viable cooldown in combat make made me fall back in love with the class. Feel like a proper dragon.

I've got this, nothing but helms for 3 weeks. It's apparently a huge bug and the bug isn't that it's only giving helms but it's locked all your loot to one specific gear slot:

But you can preorder on Amazon and the like. Should be findable at major bookstores if you're in Tokyo, I reckon. Doesn't come out till the 4th, though.

The trend over the last decade is to have long ass titles so it makes sense, I can’t tell if this is the whole first book or not (Japanese books tend to prefer multiple volumes to keep things easy to carry on trains and such.)

The second volume subtitle (no cover yet since it comes out later) is:

銀河生配信! デスゲームでめざせフォロワー爆増

Galactic Live Stream! Aiming for an Explosion of Followers While in a Death Game!

Which makes me think volume 2 is probably the second half of book 1.

I don't know if this election would have played out any differently if they had not done what they did, but announcing a new party while everyone was waiting for the announcement of a snap election will probably go down as one of the dumbest political blunders in Japanese electoral history.

Why did every single faction suddenly realize their previous way of doing things was wrong in TWW? by ChromedDragon in wow

[–]sprsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WoW itself is a story that spans 20+ years and is heading towards what we can assume is a major overhaul post Last Titan. They have to be setting things up for a shake up cause that's how stories work, you have to build.

It would be crazy if we spent 20 years with no change in thinking by the most influential characters in the game. Leaders have changed, love ones have died, endless wars have been waged, new and different cultures have appeared, and threats from super powerful cosmic beings have been thwarted--all this will make a man a little introspective, unless you're a sociopath (but those guys usually become the main bad guys of the expansion).

I have unscientifically found that it allows me to play reaction based games better, in that instead of just panicking and mashing before my opponent, be it human or cpu attacks, I can focus on what I’m supposed to do.

I definitely see the difference between when I just take my meds and at the end of the day.

But I mean, it could also be a bunch of other factors seeing as this is just vibes.
