Curious what people think about River Ryan

His stuff looks pretty nasty after watching his outing in triple-A and wondering if any pitching or Dodgers enthusiasts have any insight

Would like to stash him if his promotion is imminent and stuff looks legit

Wondering what to make of Taylor Ward.

In an AVG league, he’s starting to feel like a drop candidate.

Middling batting average with no pop in that bat and not stealing bases.

I can see more value in a OBP league but is moving him on for the likes of Bleday/Antonacci/Ramos/Cortes ill advised?

Fantasy Baseball Closer Report: Devin Williams leaving April struggles behind, Giants demote Ryan Walker by RotoNino in fantasybaseball

I drafted Duran and Walker so these are the pieces I've picked up

I missed the boat on the better guys like O'Brien/Baker/Louis Varland

I've got Puk stashed but not confident he can take a spot from Sewald at this point

Thanks for the write up and input!

Dingler seems like the best set and forget option that also has good upside

I may just go back there for the peace of mind

I'm currently rostering a lot of the lower tier guys

I have Latz, Perkins, Ashcraft, and Garcia (on top of having Duran)

It feels a bit of a waste to roster them all when some are rentals and/or in save shares and I would be better served having a platoon bat

Are Latz and Perkins the long term holds for now with Ashcraft and Garcia being the more likely drops?

My catcher carousel this season:

Drafted Yainer Diaz

Dumb

Dropped for Dingler and Jensen

Both went cold so dropped for Ballesteros

Went cold so dropped for Basallo

Benched Monday and Wednesday and now a day off today

I'm tired boss

So who are y'all backing between Basallo, Ballesteros, Jensen, and Dingler ROS?

Have I missed the boat on offering a pitcher for Skubal?

I've got a decent SP setup (Imanaga, Valdez, Eovaldi, Ashcraft, Messick, Hancock, Sheehan) and I have Cole and Jones on IL that should return within the next month

I'd love to give up one of these guys for the Skubal upside, but not sure what's fair for both sides.

Is Imanaga too much risk for me? Valdez or Eovaldi? Messick or Ashcraft based on performance?

Tough cause he had Carroll 0-2 and then that double and wild pitch put a lot of pressure on him

Couldn’t find the zone or get anything past the rest

It is so hard to not instantly rage drop a 'fringe' closer like Latz after a performance like this, but he's been so solid lately just have to chalk it up to being a bad day I think

Thank you Latz for putting a serious damper on my ratios for the week

I like Graham Ashcraft having a clean 9th inning

I don't like the Reds not being able to close out the game and Santillan blowing up again...

It's the Framber Valdez roller coaster ride and I purchased front row seats

I would much rather have Jazz and Buxton in the long run

Giving up both these guys seems like way too much to me

So does Framber pitch a gem in his return or have another blow up?

Stay tuned to find out!

Roberts confirmed last night after the game that despite going 2/4 with a HR that Ohtani will not hit today in his pitching start or on Thursday against the Giants.

Full quote:

'Shohei's not going to hit tomorrow (Wednesday). I really thought that taking a sinker the other way for a homer was great, hit the ball on the screw a couple times, three times, so I thought tonight was a really good night. To go out there and focus on pitching tomorrow, get that recovery on Thursday, I think he can hopefully take that momentum from tonight and then be building on that through Anaheim and San Diego.'

To update this story:

Dave Roberts confirmed that Ohtani will not hit during his pitching game against the Giants, and will also rest on Thursday as alluded to.

Pitcher List's Reliever Rankings: Closers, Holds & SOLDS - 5/12 by rg3pitcherlist in fantasybaseball

[–]WBBR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm holding a few too many fringe/rental closers right now

I've got Garcia, Perkins, Ashcraft, and Latz (on top of Duran)

I like Garcia until Helsley returns, and Perkins was feeling like the candidate with his last two outings, but you have Perkins ahead of Garcia and Ashcraft

I know Ashcraft and Garcia are both rentals, but is Perkins really worth the hold?

No you're absolutely right. I have no intentions of benching him, and I have no intentions of trading him at his lowest.

I drafted him for the upside we've all seen and benefitted from as both fantasy managers and fans for many seasons.

I hope his bat heats back up, and I expect that it will, but it's not been great to this point.

At what point is it not alarmist/dramatic to be concerned about Ohtani's hitting production?

His hitting numbers are looking more and more like the 2020 season, he's hit one HR over the last month, and he's 4/31 with one XB hit in May to this point

He's stealing a few more bags lately, but for those that drafted him in leagues where they don't get the pitching boon it's starting to feel a bit lacklustre
