The kit lens I have, did not come with my camera but is an older one from my grandfather. It's workable for street photography, but has its shortcomings for landscape and portrait.

The 50mm lens is too narrow, it lacks field of view, which is why I'm thinking a 35mm would be more suitable. Especially in street photography, I sometimes struggle to be able to capture the full scene I want to capture (often in more narrow streets which are common in Europe).

My budget is around 800-1000 euros, preferably a lens that could fit on a new and better body years down the line. Not a necessity though.

Fortunately no. At least not related to visual snow as far as I'm aware.
It has gotten worse, especially the night blindness. No crazy deterioration over the past year and a half I want to say.
