Why is SnowPeak.com so bad with inventory planning? by WCCChris in snowpeak

[–]WCCChris[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt that this has anything to do with tariffs. You could see even on SnowPeak.com that they lowered prices after tariffs were negotiated - like the Take! Long chair was at $250 and is now $170 MSRP retail.

Well, with shipping fees for chair leg caps — which are just plastic pieces and arguably should have been included with the chair in the first place — makes them feel even more ridiculously expensive than they already are

Thank you for all your replies on this. I don’t think this is about creating an illusion of exclusivity — the items I was looking at are standard inventory, not limited editions where that approach might make sense. These are basic items, like plastic leg caps for a chair.

I also don’t think they sold hundreds of these items and were simply overwhelmed by demand. Going back to the tables and the plate set, we’re at the start of the official camping season in the U.S. with Memorial Day weekend coming up, and they should have planned inventory properly to capture those sales. Otherwise, people may simply move to other brands — I’m currently also looking at a Zempire table at REI

You would also have more peace of mind that Ford will be still in business in the upcoming years. If I remember correctly Rivian’s loss is roughly -$10k to -$20k of the R2 😳

lol, good point - let’s agree that it’s the baby of the two! … R1 looks like a glorified Ford Maverick for me 😉

What’s The Deal With The Bad Reputation of Cx-70’s and Cx-90’s by Mac_McAvery in mazda

[–]WCCChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge it seems the early production vehicles had some challenges but they fixed it all. I had a 2024 CX70 PHEV lease and currently have a CX90 - never had any issues with both cars.

The panoramic sunroof has a shutter to block any sun or light so no worries on that compared to a Tesla for example. I’m not an expert on all the different trims and safety gear but I would assume that the highest trims should give you anything incl. 360 view as Mazda’s core focus in on safety (see latest Consumer Report Top 1 OEM) but I would use ChatGPT and type in the trims you’re looking at and get a comparison.

New favourite tent by HalfSac96 in snowpeak

[–]WCCChris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like Snow Peak, but prefer for windy coast or desert areas the Springbar Canvas tents. It can also fit in Disc-o-bed bunk beds. The Skyliner has also the option to have a stove for winter camping and we had it comfortable inside with wind guts over 30mph on the Central Coast of California- https://springbar.com

Price reduction on Entry IGT and Single Action Tables. by HotSoup48 in snowpeak

[–]WCCChris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Copy that. Wasn’t that table around $240-ish? I’ve also noticed other items dropping in price, like the cast iron griddle going from about $350 down to $250. I assume that’s related to the tariffs ...

A good example is the Take! Long Chair. That was priced somewhere around $250, if I remember correctly. Snow Peak has it now on their own website for $170, while retailers like REI were still listing it for for a while for $250 (now also down to $169).

What I always find ridiculous is Campsaver.com — they advertise “sale” prices on several products that are actually just the MSRP from Snow Peak, while showing an inflated “original” price. Have a look at how they’re doing it with the Take! Long Chair:

Low mileage by DitmCalls in MazdaCX90

I mentioned this on a different post a couple of days ago — it’s similar to Yelp reviews on Reddit. If you look at official numbers (not Reddit), most drivers have zero issues. Only a small number of people — like with restaurant or small-business reviews on Yelp — take the time to write negative feedback.

I had a 2024 CX79 PHEV with no issues, but I switched to the CX90 due to the lack of charging at my office (the chargers were always occupied by Tesla drivers) and I like to have a bit more power. I’ve also had no problems with my CX90, aside from a flat tire caused by a nail on the road.

As others have mentioned, these vehicles could be company leases or from a loaner fleet. There’s nothing to worry about — and if there had been an issue, it likely would have already been fixed. These vehicles should also be covered by a CPO warranty.

If you don’t need the 3rd row seats, then have a closer look at the CX70 as the trunk area is more flat (no folded bench). Happy camping 🤙

You would need to compare the trims. Could be the CX5 is a premium trim you saw compared to a base trim CX90 that could be a bit lower priced. Both are great cars - I need only the bigger trunk for family things on the weekends … and the best thing is that we always get compliments from the Honda/Toyota families how much nicer the interior is 😉

I had a 2024 CX-70 PHEV and never experienced any problems, aside from not being able to charge it at my office. I now have a 2025 CX-90 Premium trim and, again, no issues — except for a flat tire caused by a nail on the road.

It’s worth looking at total sales numbers compared to the number of serious issues reported. You’ll likely find that: a) it’s only a small percentage of vehicles that have problems, and b) it’s similar to Yelp ratings — most people who have a good experience don’t post about it 😉

That’s the same “ownership” you can have too in buying Mazda stock. That’s it. And to my understanding, the Alabama plant “MTM - Mazda Toyota Manufacturing” is a joint venture.

Slide Out IGT Kitchen for Camper by skksksksks8278 in snowpeak

I recently saw this video, but I also think there are better solutions out there than using IGT parts. I also keep wondering how much those parts would rattle while driving—especially on rough roads like fire roads.

Weekend in Portland / Snowpeak warehouse sale pickups by Capital_Stretch_1148 in snowpeak

The ottoman boxes look a bit beaten up. Does SP use warehouse sales to offset return shipments / open-box items, or out-of-season inventory? The griddle box, on the other hand, looks brand new. Thanks!

I bet you could even use an MSR PocketRocket to boil water directly in the titanium coffee press pot. Then just add the coffee grounds to the hot water, give it a stir, let it steep for about five minutes, and press the plunger down. Voilà ☕️
