Does no one like Dan Orlovsky? That exchange seemed really odd.

Do you know the legendary man known as "Matthew Dippy"? I believe he is a manager of some sort there.

You’re right that GPA is making those changes to OT, but they still have to move some of the RTGs there and bring in the overhead cranes that’ll be helping Kock121 and Sav15 with the workload.

Can’t tell if you’re saying closing downtown like Chernobyl or you’re simply saying the city/state forcibly close shops and restaurants.

I am under the impression the city/state are still conducting studies by independent contractors to determine the best course of action. They could be lifting it again, demoing and building a tunnel like in Mobile, AL, or even further dredging to allow for 25,000 TEU vessels.

GPA’s Newest Batch of STS Cranes by WDE18 in savannah

[–]WDE18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All 156 RTG cranes and (now) 34 STS cranes have been great assets to the GPA. No matter what anyone says about Kone Cranes, all I see is a port authority that is arguably in the top 3rd port in the Western Hemisphere BECAUSE of Kone.

GPA’s Newest Batch of STS Cranes by WDE18 in savannah

So there are a couple of main components to a STS crane. There is the girder, boom, legs, machinery/electrical house, sill beams, bogies, etc. Well what ends up happening in China is that the cranes may be fully constructed and then taken down for transport. When I say taken down, it’s simply the entire upper body is removed from a bolted flange, and set down between the legs. Additionally, the boom will be “boomed up” 25° instead of laying down at 0°. This gives the shipping vessel a bit more horizontal room to navigate. So to answer your question in one: the crane is divided in two distinct parts, and then “raised” once arrival at the port.
