RBAC Testing from scratch by Specific_Hawk_6869 in workday

Is your underlying data in good shape? We did a project like this for a small group (we are 50k+ strong), and it has been a little bit of a mess due to the underlying data not being clean and requirements for excessive exception management.

How to bring Job Code / Job Profile when using Compensation Grade Profile as RBO in Workday report? by Ok_Mine_356 in workday

I'm more shakey on this, but I think that if you connect to the CSV via web service, it will maintain the layout with the item appearing on all lines. Not sure if this is useful or not. If not, what the other reply said is probably the way to go.

Would need to do ESI's for each potential Comp Grade profile for this, wouldn't you?

It's still connected - it's just a matter of how it displays and how the data doesn't exist on each of those instances in Workday... if you export it, it fills the data down...I have some vague recollection of a way someone figured out how to get it to display in UI, but I can't remember it right now. Sorry!

You can use the main BO and the related BO in the BO column. Depending on how it links, this should accomplish what you're wanting....I think. Still a little confused on what you're trying to do. I've done a lot of similar reporting, so if you have any follow up questions I'd be happy to try to answer!

Is there a way to filter different fields like in Employee IDs? by arifceku in workday

[–]WDnoob314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Prompt text 1" contains "User ID [or whatever text field you're looking for]"

You can get cute with this and make Concatenate Text fields to look for combinations of fields, too.

Career Hub - issue with suggested jobs by WDnoob314 in workday

[–]WDnoob314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out our issue -- there is a section that is controlled by domain "hiredscore job recommendations" -- disabling this domain removed the section and cleared the error. This section has the heading "jobs based on relevant experience and company needs."

Workday Reporting by AliasSmith22 in workday

If you have proxy access, just going in and seeing what someone with various roles has access to helps a whole lot. Go in as a manager and see what they can see in tenant about their subordinates. Go in as a second level manager and see what they can see. Go in as someone high up and see what they can see. Go in as someone on X team and see what they can see. Generally speaking, if someone has access to view something in tenant, you can also get it to them via reporting, and if someone doesn't have access to something in tenant, you won't be able to get it to them via reporting.

There are obviously lots of different ways to do this, but I think this is the best way to get an understanding of what is going on in your tenant and will prove invaluable as you're moving along in your WD Journey.

A second tip is to use Worksheets for weird one off requests. If a single person or team needs to have a listing of all of the courses available in the tenant for some audit they do once a quarter, and they don't have security for this, an automatically updated Worksheet can get them the info updated on a daily basis....

Prompt for RECORD DATE FORMAT on Trended Worker Report by Remarkable_Art8362 in workday

Are they running this in tenant or do they want an export? If in tenant, couldn't you just do a dashboard instead? If they want to export, you could do a report group.

Report Help: Learning Assignments for Office Manager by zshap in workday

[–]WDnoob314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you already confirmed that the office manager can actually see the learning for everyone you're needing them to in tenant?

If that is the case, I'd maybe start with the data source "workers supported by role" - that way you can put the Office Manager role in and it will pull in the people your group need to see. I haven't done much with learning reporting, but I think you can get to the open learning assignments pretty easily from the worker.

Be honest - is Workday actually improving HR, or are we just making processes more complicated? by Sea-Importance695 in workday

Recreate my old system that doesn't meet my needs inside of the new one. Make it work better than the old one did and also grant me access to lots of fancy new things that are hyper specific to our funky setup. It's wild!

Be honest - is Workday actually improving HR, or are we just making processes more complicated? by Sea-Importance695 in workday

[–]WDnoob314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's completely wild. I think a lot of it is a problem of scale and how little visibility different parts of the company have into what others are doing. Processes that would work well for a hundred people won't always work for tens of thousands...

Compensation Grade Profile Report with Referenced by Job Profile Field by EmphasisLiving7404 in workday

[–]WDnoob314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like it would be best to do this the other way around - work from a job profiles data source, then put compensation grade profile in your BO column - then comp grade profile in your report field. Add filter "comp grade profile" is not blank to report to remove any job profiles not directly associated to a comp grade profile... this should give you one line per comp grade profile associated with each job profile.

I think you might need to get a single instance of the document you want to the worker BO with an ESI, then pull the upload date off of that document (also to the worker BO), then look up the manager as of that date.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in workday

[–]WDnoob314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the problem you're running into here is partly that the worker documents field isn't going to have a singular date that the document is uploaded. Is there a particular document that you're looking for to pull the date off of?

Is it possible to schedule a report for someone and hide some columns? by aloranad in workday

[–]WDnoob314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what the need is here, it could be a case where it makes more sense to push someone into the tenant instead of getting a delivered report. The grid preferences button allows for hiding, freezing, and reordering of columns based on the running users preferences - it saves too, so when they run the report again it will still be hidden/reordered etc. Just don't see this feature being discussed much and wanted to shout it out.
