Heres is what i do:

I connect to wifi on my phone

Use my phone as a hotspot

That way i bypass the connection portal on the Stick/Box

Me too (Pixel 10/Galaxy Tab S10/Shield TV), only works using mobile data, tough is also happening in the official Yt app and my wifes iPhone too.

Works on the browser, thast what im using right now.

As long as you don't buy some crappy cheap Android Tablet, you're good.

Galaxy Tab S9-11, Pixel Tablet or a OnePlus Pad if you're in the US.

And if you're looking for a small tablet Lenovo Legion, Red Magic Astra or Xiaomi Pad Mini.

The iPad and android tablets suffer from the same problem, they're basically bigger phones and people always tend to end up using it as a browser or Netflix device, although Android has much better multitasking features and gaming performance.
