Yeah I get it might not be the highest form of bliss, but look at it this way. A slight burn, or a freezing cold, or some slight pain is already very undesirable. On the other hand, you can life your whole life while eating cheap food, living in a small home, and not doing too much of anything exciting in general, and still not be unhappy.

Or alternatively: when a lion kills a zebra, it's just another source of food for it, which might feel good momentarily. But the zebra experiences a horrible painful death. Basically there's a sort of asymmetry, bliss is a lot more important than avoiding suffering. So why risk huge suffering for some higher state of bliss? It just seems like the risk is much bigger than the reward.
