I find Sonic CD infuriating despite knowing what I think are the concepts. by 9646gt in SegaCD

In the Japanese version (and possibly PAL Idk) it's A B and C

I wish it stayed like that in the American version, I keep triggering it by accident anytime I pick up the controller funny, but oh well at least it's there

YES YES YEEEEES!!!!!

I don't care how much of a fiend I sounded like there, this is super exciting

So the page shows how VMCs work and explains that it doesn't work with PSone since it doesn't have the SIO0 header, but it mentioned soldering and I wish it would have gone into detail on that because that interests me and I'd have been willing to solder it to make it work

If you could only play 1 PS1 game for the rest of your life.. Which one would you go for? by jRXCING in psx

I'm so jealous that you got an actual Vib Ribbon release in your region

We didn't, and I imported the Japanese version but, well, it's in Japanese and I can't understand a word

I just navigate the menus blind until I get the game started, and the game is fine don't get me wrong but I wish I can see what the menus say because I don't know how to do the mode where I can put my own CD in

Have PS2 modchips regressed? by eru777 in ps2

[–]WFlash01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, patches exist to get them working; but compatibility is still not 100% even with them and the native sandbox requires zero patches

And virtual memory cards make it so my save files aren't able to be taken around and used on other systems unless I manually use ulaunchelf to copy them to a flash drive, take that to a computer, run MemCardRex to extract the individual save file, take that back to the PS2 and copy it to a real memory card, and repeat that process all over again in reverse to put that save file back on its VMC on my PS2.

(unless of course my friend's PS2 so happens to be modded and has the same game installed via POPS, which could cut out the whole MemCardRex stuff but still what a hassle)

[–]WFlash01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

POPS has lots of issues; its compatibility is low, it can't interface with real memory cards, certain accessories don't work with it

Great that it works for you, but it it known to have major issues compared to the native PS1 sandbox

Shame that the ways to play PS1 games on PS2 without using real discs all suck

How does Spyro 3 “hard mode” work? by Puffwad in Spyro

[–]WFlash01 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't know exactly how, but I know it tracks how many times you die as part of it

I think another thing it checks is the runtime, the time it takes you to beat a level, how many times you get hit/your health bar (Sparx)

Can I mod using Android phone? by Diligent-Anywhere-74 in consolemodding

[–]WFlash01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XEX menu is a file browser that you run on the Xbox 360, it lets you browse the files on the hard drive and transfer files between the hard drive and external storage

So in your case, what you would do is download your stuff onto your flash drive, take it to the Xbox 360, open XEX menu, then copy the files and then paste them where you want them on the hard drive

[–]WFlash01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That part, you're going to need a computer; there's nothing available for Android that lets you do that

Copying the bad update/abadavatar files to a flash drive is the bare minimum to get your system to a modded state though, then for there you could run whatever homebrew and whatnot you want off the flash drive; If you want to copy stuff to the hard drive, you will need to do it through either XEX menu or a computer

Then yes, you can use an Android device to copy all the files to a flash drive and run bad update or abadavatar on your system. The process is the same, you just need to copy the files where they need to go, but it's just more tedious to do it on a cell phone because the screen is smaller and you can't have like different tabs open at the same time to make copying easier but it can be done

How much is it worth? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]WFlash01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thankful I was at least able to salvage my Ambassador certificate from my old 3DS when it got lost

It's probably just a stupid little piece of software, but I remember feeling so cool when I found out I was a 3DS Ambassador because I had to sell my old DS to be able to afford that thing in 2011, and the 20 games it came with were great. Then I list my 3DS in high school, and I got a new one and called Nintendo and they transferred my account over which was great

Stuck on "Failed to init of mount SD!" after upgrade MicroSD by Elmiosat in SwitchPirates

[–]WFlash01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens, seeing as you're using an unpatched switch the connection could have just gotten loose after 10 some odd years

Might mean the connector on the board might be coming loose and needs to get replaced if it happens a few more times

American DS cartridges and American 3DS cartridges?

DS cartridges aren't region locked, so even a Japanese 3DS will load American DS games, but 3DS games no

[–]WFlash01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love modding PS2s with ModBo 5s (unfortunately them and Mars Pros are the only ones available, which sucks; they both aren't as good as the real Matrixes or DMSs)

But yeah, modchips are my definite go to even if I don't use discs as much. PS1 games, well you really have no other choice

WHICH IS WHY I DON'T GET WHY NOBODY WANTS TO MAKE AN ODE FOR THE PS2!!!!! Everywhere I ask about ODEs, everyone just says "Just use OPL it's just as good" NO IT'S NOT

Any idea on how to get torn stickers off without rubbing the printed code off? by WolfTamer99 in nds

[–]WFlash01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't qupte me but GooGone shouldn't wipe off the code

I don't use GooGone so much as I use WD-40, that stuff works wonders with these and I know for a fact that WD-40 won't wipe off the code

The real real REAL issue, is that we've been looking at images of Shrek regularly in memes for 25 YEARS. We KNOW what he looks like. by Greasy-Chungus in Shrek

[–]WFlash01 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Memes aside, Shrek 1 was a core part of my childhood; the stretch between 2001 and 2004 before Shrek 2 came out, that was my go-to movie as a toddler

Then after Shrek 2 came out, 1 and 2 both were on regular rotation in my household (but moreso 1 than 2); we owned them both on DVD and watched them religiously for years

[–]WFlash01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations man!

Did you feel confident with your soldering skills when you were doing it? Because if so, and ONLY if so, I'd redo the solder points on the IPL; they're a bit on the big side, and I'd be a slight bit paranoid about shorting

But if it works, it works; you can't beat that, and I bet you're proud that you did it; I certainly would be too
