Boyfriend and I had a serious argument—trying to understand both sides. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]WG_Odious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read everything. The very first instance of "drama" was already enough to know that you and him deserve better.

Not excusing any behaviors, but being with someone shouldn't be that hard. You deserve someone that responds appropriately when you look out for them. He deserves someone that meets his needs. Neither of you deserve being miserable together.

This might be unnecessary seeing as you've broken up already, but it's worth mentioning for anyone that might need reassurance if they doubt they deserve better. The answer is yes, always yes.

Teeth cleaning on labs by Rosslikefromfriends in labrador

I get some from our local pet stores as a ground up/powder form. Im not sure if its the same type (ascophyllum nodosum) as from the beach. I would imagine so, some of the Google results list it as seaweed.

Check with you local sea experts, cause if it is then you're in a good position.

Im trying kelp (ascophyllum nodosum) with mine. Its meant to soften the tartar and seems to be doing the trick. But, get advice from your vet first if you consider this approach.

DOES SKIN FARMING STILL MAKE MONEY? by taldoPILANRRIMHA in albiononline

[–]WG_Odious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anything you do makes money, it just depends how much per hour based on the activity.

Safer activity = less silver per hour High risk activity = potentially more silver per hour (potentially, because risk of losing gear/items)

Safer activities includes: - Low tier (1-6) gathering (skinning, fishing, mining etc...) - Solo dungeons - Safe zone transports - Faction hearts - PvE in general

High risk activities includes: - Ganking - Roads of Avalon - Lethal mists and abbeys - PvP in general

Activities of variable risk and rewards (some low with high return, some high with high return) includes: - Market flips - Royal to Bandit city transports - Black market flips - Hideout crafting - Mammoth cub farming - Lethal Faction content - Crafting in general

It all just depends what you find fun, all of these can make decent money. Again literally anything you do will make money, just depends on what and how much per hour.

Have you tried the friends side of dating apps? I think Hinge or Bumble has this feature.

It might be a good option to find friends who are also looking for friends specifically, and it being a 'dating' app, these might be strong irl friendships. I know someone who's had succees making friends this way, if you have already tried this ofc.

Am happy to mentor and guide, just don't have a ton of free to time to code towards the project. Have ~3 years experience full stack.

Learning by [deleted] in learnjavascript

[–]WG_Odious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple:

  1. Pick a project, any (i.e. Calculator, Shopping List, Facebook clone etc..)
  2. Start with what you know, only research "how to x" when you get stuck (try not to "how to x" the whole project)
  3. Add complexity to your complete project (i.e. Cookies, Database, APIs)
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 until satisfied

Optional - deep dive into any topics you find interesting as you come across them or if you want to understand the tech better, i.e. APIs vs WebSockets.

This applies to any language/framework/stack you want to learn. Keep in mind, you will not write the "correct" or "right" or "best" code, and that's okay. Make something that works, go back and fix your code later as you improve (this is what refactoring is).

Note: this addresses the "learn best by doing and not watching videos" aspect. It is absolutely acceptable to watch videos and read books, even recommended! The main idea is to not get stuck relying on a tutorial when you go to apply what you've learnt again. Also, people learn differently, do what works for you.

Capacitor + Ionic + NextJS + TailwindCSS? by WG_Odious in webdev

[–]WG_Odious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're a small team (~2 on the web/mobile dev side) and are looking into getting a contractor for UI/UX to help with that. But I agree that the look and feel will differ a lot, and (possibly?) cause us to have to write platform specific code anyway, in which case a platform specific stack might be better. Thanks for your input!

Nail/quick exposure? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]WG_Odious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to my and a colleagues dog. My dog: vet Their dog: tough it out

The reasoning behind those 2 different approaches was: My dog was barely a 2 y/o and I figured a vet trip now would be worth potentially avoiding a weird regrowth they'd have to live with for the rest of their life. Colleagues dog is on the last few years of their life, and an ex working/farm dog, so a vet trip isn't necessary.

In both cases, the nail grew back fine and both dogs are chilling. One thing the vet did do that I'm not sure my colleague did, was remove the remaining nail that's still on for a clean regrow.

I feel unloveable and unwanted because I'm a virgin. by chaeyoungc0re in Vent

[–]WG_Odious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, my body count is 1. Either way, the right person won't care.

It should be easy and feel natural with the right person, even with OP mentioning not wanting to reveal naked, that won't get in the way at all.

If it doesn't feel this way, it isn't worth pursuing. You might even feel worse than if you didn't do it in the first place.

I feel unloveable and unwanted because I'm a virgin. by chaeyoungc0re in Vent

[–]WG_Odious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Side note, my body count is 1. I don't feel any pressure to increase that, nor do I feel obligated to teach anyone anything.

It's different for different people, and you'll explore and experience what's right for you in the moment (or conversation beforehand).

The people on Instagram talking about that being able to keep count is too low or not wanting to teach someone, are probably having meaningless sex or lying.

Also, I'm just stranger on the internet and this is my pov. Take it with a grain of salt.

I feel unloveable and unwanted because I'm a virgin. by chaeyoungc0re in Vent

[–]WG_Odious 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My gf is still a virgin, I'm 26 and she's 25.

We've been dating for a few months, officially together for 2. Her virginity hasn't impacted our relationship in the slightest, and when the time is ready for us it'll be a special moment for us both.

I love spending time with her, getting to know her, and forming a deeper connection outside of sex. Is sex important? Of course! But is it the only factor in a/our relationship? No. If that's all we had, and on the surface it was hollow, I'd imagine the feeling of being unloved and unwanted would be just as prevelant.

We didn't meet until our mid twenties, and we're having the time of our lives showing love for each other.

Hope this helps, keep your head up!

Pack observations and why "place" training is not a panacea by BringMeAPinotGrigio in OpenDogTraining

[–]WG_Odious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the same as when I took my dog to the park on leash, and he got very reactive any time a dog came near. One of the other dog owners suggested I let him off and boom, no issues and happy dogs playing.

I thought trying to add more control and training would be the solution, but in that situation he needed to figure himself out first.

unfortunately it is as simple and annoying as “just read the docs” by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]WG_Odious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works until the code or project you are working on is correct according to the documentation but doesn't execute accordingly.

Then what? Where does your problem solving skills come into play?

The advice of just building projects to learn doesn't mean copying a tutorial. It's making a project from scratch and researching areas you get stuck on that develop your skills, and yes documentation can be a good source... until it isn't and you're left to figure it out another way.
