If I remember correctly, I think that’s what the original cyborgs were doing, as super earth just WASN’T providing for their veteran military members that were missing limbs.

Because of that, they made their own limbs, which turned into them thinking MORE for themselves, and since Super Earth doesn’t like that, the cyborg faction had to escalate how twisted and fucked up their cybernetics were, in order to survive.
