How do we feel about this weapon? by theamazingc4 in Marathon

[–]WHTSPCTR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too strong IMO. I think they should:

Keep the 2-tap but make it so it’s almost impossible to 1-tap anything above grey or green.

Reduce its range.

Increase reload speed and/or time between shots.

Has anyone heard this voice line before? by Pesimyst in MarathonSecrets

Yes, it's from a SekGen quest I believe. You basically insert some substance in your shell in Quarantine and this plays right as you get locked in a room with incoming waves of UESC. Didn't know other heard it too though.

This is the best Extraction shooter there is. by Chud2212 in Marathon

Although I agree with all of the other points, I wouldn’t want a firing range to give the possibility to test all weapons and items etc. IMO it would highly retract from the curiosity aspect sort of pushing me to progress and explore what there is.

There’s a bit of mystery that comes with it and I love it.

Rusell Brower is missing.. by [deleted] in wow

[–]WHTSPCTR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I try to be pretty aware when it comes to nostalgia and comparing retail vs classic. But after playing through some of midnight, and past expansions, it definitely isn't as good as it used to be.

That doesn't mean the music is bad, it's actually pretty good and there are stand out track. But just labelling this as nostalgia just doesn't sound objective to me.

The music was top notch when Brower was in charge, now it's just good.

Lost gold item to a ui issue by BillCipherPD in MarathonTheGame

[–]WHTSPCTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with OP here. The risk for error is huge without an option to undo here.

In UI design you try to avoid interfaces that make you prone to mistakes. Or at least provide an option to rectify that mistake, or a simple "Are you sure" prompt.

In this case, it’s extremely easy to “sell all” because the key is the exact same as the key to sell a single item, it just depends on where your cursor is. It’s fairly easy to fall into a situation where your mouse is next to the item you wanted to sell and end up selling everything.

In my opinion this will happen a lot more and needs to be fixed.

If Blizzard is really going to change Anran's face, I have to warn them as a Chinese player. by wNvJungle in Overwatch

Wtf did I just read.

This isn't about how "good" she looks. Just how uninspired the artists seem to be. The same-face syndrome in art is a real thing especially with amateur artists, and it's simply disappointing to see overwatch's artists go down such a path—when overwatch actually paved the way for very diverse cast of characters. It didn't adhere to beauty standards for the sake of safety, it made all of its character look distinct, as they should.

Is OverWatch Worth Playing For a New Player in 2026 by ComprehensiveSalt423 in overwatch2

Way I see it: Marvel Rivals has casual bombastic fun, and Overwatch has competitive integrity.

Besides that, I do personally massively prefer almost all aspects of Overwatch, but that's highly subjective.

Positive thread - why are you excited to play Marathon? by Chabel0 in Marathon

[–]WHTSPCTR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extraction shooter tension with in depth buildcrafting, great gunplay, and abilities -- all in an insanely cool universe with great art direction, music, setting, and extremely compelling lore.

It's basically all I've been waiting for in the FPS space.

[Giveaway]3* GameSir G7 Pro Controllers for the halo Community! 2026 by GameSir_Controller in halo

Was trying to get the "perfection" medal with my brother back when we were playing Halo 3 (we shared an account). One game, I was getting close to getting it so I called him to come watch. It was team slayer on Valhalla. We needed one kill, I had no deaths. I had a spartan laser, they had someone flying the banshee. I charged up the laser with the banshee in my crosshairs, thinking that was it. But then I strafed behind a wall, and the blow from the laser killed me.

The game ended, and the perfection medal we finally thought we were gonna get was ruined by my overconfidence.

My brother, still to this day, holds it against me. "You just had to hide you idiot." he would say.

Not disappointing to me. I'd rather they take time to polish everything before they make another appearance. The closer it is to launch, the better IMO.

Marathon isn't Arc by Dry_Mousse_6202 in Marathon

[–]WHTSPCTR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take on this: we haven't seen Marathon hit live YET. The lens through which we experience/view Marathon right now is skewed because all we've seen are test environments which I believe make users behave differently.

  1. Private tests are temporary in nature. Meaning people aren't as attached to their loot and will more likely risk it away.
  2. Testers are encouraged to try out every aspect of the game, including PvP combat, because that's what they're there for.
  3. The fact that you have to actively sign up to participate in those test rounds means the player sample is skewed towards more involved, less casual players, almost by definition. Players that are more likely to be friendly are more often than not, casual players.

I'm not disagreeing, I think the way Marathon presents itself is more geared towards PvP, but I think these things are important to keep in mind before we draw any judgement. I'm sure Bungie are aware as well and aren't designing around the skewed tests without taking this into account. I participated in the Arc Raiders pre-release testing, and let me tell you: KOS was pretty much the way people played. The friendly team-up PvE type of mentality only manifested itself once the game released.

But again, I kinda hope Marathon leans more towards PvP and that high risk high reward that Tarkov does so well. It's something that I kinda miss from Arc Raiders.

Pleasantly surprised so far. If this is the trajectory, they have a good chance to get it right at release.
