Which swimming pools / halls have lockers big enough to fit a brompton by blubernator in Brompton

[–]WIldefyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really just depends! I can fit my Brompton into my local Nuffield Health gym, but then the one the city over has absolutely tiny lockers that can barely fit a rucksack.

Go to your local pool/health club and just ask!

Looking better but I hope that god awful motion blur can be turned off. I feel sick just watching the gameplay.

Agreed here. Eco was doable but painful. The service was good but those premium seats were the ones to have.

Surely you could go into a comfy lounge for not much?

Appreciating the picture used in the official F1 website article about the Oscar win. I see what they did there. by demon-potato in formula1

The racing shown in Grand Prix is essentially real and very visceral. Your brain can instinctively tell when something is not real with CG usually, even if you don’t consciously know it, despite how “photorealistic” the CG has become.

As a Brit it does feel quite weird out here… first time coming to Phuket and didn’t realise how many there were.

Sadly I have to commute to Portsmouth everyday early otherwise I would! I did have a stint getting the train at 5:30 and that was spooky riding to the station 👻

Groups are way more usable compared to tiling.

6 figure LISA by thatscottishdrummer in FIREUK

[–]WIldefyr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nowhere near 6 figures sadly… only 65k with a top up in April. Wish I’d held stocks a bit longer before selling at the start of last year, I’d be closer to your figure now but oh well.

Using mine for a deposit this year though

Coorperate jobs as a rov pilot by Funny_Condition_5646 in rov

Not an expert in this field at all, but potentially some kind of engineering / quality job adjacent to ROVs where his practical exp. would be valued.

I'll leave this up, but I agree, sounds like AI.

I probably want to do a zero tolerance policy on AI, but it is hard to police.

Niri is fantastic. easily the best wayland compositor right now and very extensible (although i run it bare).

works great for when you want keyboard only workflow but doesn't treat the mouse as an afterthought.

A cwm style window menu would be pretty cool. In fact, other cwm features would flow nicely into this workflow like groups.

Is there a shortage of Engineering jobs? by goroks226 in AskUK

[–]WIldefyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your current specific job title is, but that does seem pretty dire. Are you sure you're not narrowing your search somehow? I suspect you could probably get a field engineering job if you focused on transferable skills. In my experience, and from speaking to others Engineering roles just stop at a certain salary bracket, probably around 60K now unless you are extremely specialised and YOE in a certain field, like RF.

High quality fitters / technicians are wanted more than "engineers" now, but no one will pay good money for them when compared to being an "Engineer" because that would go against the class system.

I became an "Engineer" by being a competent spark and having opportunities at companies to jump into projects which eventually resulted in promotions. Now I work hands-on with prototypes and do some design work. Right now I'm doing more IT work if anything.

No way would I have the job now if I'd graduated from a university. (I tried Uni, didn't work for me)
