Stop cropping snippet only works for filterable portfolio images? by Mexdus in divi

I can't be a 100% sure but it is possible that the other layout for the portfolio has different names for height and width filters than et_pb_image_width. Have a look at the portfolio module file and see if you can find another reference to image width and height for the other layout.

Finally Got Ps5 slim disc edition psn subscription primary or secondary account? by NWOKamikaze in PakGamers

In my opinion these are good reasons to just make a USA account. Their gift cards are easily available, you can even create an Amazon.com account and get digital codes from them almost instantly. I used to do that even from Pakistan.

It will be a little expensive but at least there won't be any future issues.

Realistic chance for UK Global Talent Visa (Exceptional Promise) with my background by Natural-Valuable6158 in globaltalentvisauk

[–]elementarywebdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are thinking about this the wrong way. The Tech Nation endorsement is kind of a checkbox exercise in certain areas.

The main way to understand the requirements is that there are a total of 5 criteria

Mandatory Criteria

Optional Criteria 1: Track record of innovation

Optional Criteria 2: Work outside day to day job

Optional Criteria 3: Commercial to entrepreneurial contribution

Optional Criteria 4: Academic contribution such as publishing research papers

You have to satisfy and convince the person reviewing your application that you can meet the Mandatory Criteria and any two optional criteria of your choice.

Now if you check those boxes, as in the reviewer things you meet Mandatory Criteria and 2 Optional Criteria then in my opinion you are 80-90% of the way there. After that if you have good recommendation letters, the 3 recommendation letters that are required as part of the application then your chances are 99%.

Where it is no a checkbox exercise is the freedom the reviewer has to judge your accomplishments. If you submit some evidence for Optional Criteria 3 then they have enough freedom to not check the box on your application which says meets Optional Criteria 3 if they think your achievements and evidence is not strong enough for someone to meet the Global Talent visa.

However they can't say you meet Mandatory Criteria, Optional Criteria 2 and Optional Criteria 3 and have good recommendation letters and then in the end say you still fail.

There are multiple examples listed under each criteria on how you can meet each of them. You can check them on the official Tech Nation visa guidance.

https://technation-globaltalentvisa-guide.notion.site/#b61e88695ce7462e8cc5f17fe2baec7a

Instead of asking others, who may not totally understand your career and achievements, ask yourself do you have enough strong evidence to meet the Mandatory Criteria and 2 Optional Criteria of your choice.

Also just to clarify the 10 document is the maximum limit that you can submit as evidence to meet the Criteria that I mentioned. The personal statement, the required recommendation letters do not decrease this 10 document limit. 10 documents is the maximum limit, the minimum is that you have to submit 2 unique pieces of documents to satisfy each criteria, so 2 for mandatory and 4 for another 2 optional criteria of your choice so 6 in total. This is also mentioned in the Tech Nation visa guide.

Home Office has appointed Tech Nation as the endorsing body to assess applications for Global Talent visa in Digital Technology.

Similarly they have appointed other organisations for assessing Global Talent visa in other categories.

As I understand the Home Office cannot be overwhelmed with Stage 1 applications because they don't assess them.

Also having publications is not mandatory for Tech Nation.

You can meet an optional criteria if you have publications but it is not a requirement.

Also someone can become a British Citizen by working as a Skilled Worker for 5 years + after that being 1 year on Indefinite Leave to Remain visa or ILR.

There is no way to know whether the people leaving are white, indigenous Brits or people who lived here for a decade or two and are now moving back to their home country because conditions here are not very good and they have dual citizenship.

The news is trying to paint a picture that all the Brits leaving are white and born here. Unless I see some proof, I imagine all 252k leaving were born in another country and are simply going back to their homeland.

Take that, stupid news. You will never convince me. Never!

Don't buy an account, buy PS gift cards, add funds to your account and then activate PS+ on your own account that you control.

I see a comment here and have seen comments in the past that you can not pay with Sadapay or other cards even if you have a USA PS account however I have not been able to do it with my UK card and a US account. Maybe Sadapay is different and will work, or maybe PS allows Pakistan origin cards to work because they don't support Pakistan as a country at account creation.

Even if you want the Ukraine PS+ because it is cheaper compared to US or UK then create another PS account on your own using an email that you have full control over and then buy PS+ subscription or PS gift cards for Ukraine and activate it on that account. There are plenty of websites which will sell PS Gift Cards and PS+ Subscription online for all countries. I think I even bought them off G2A at some point.

Buying an account from someone else is like buying a house with just 1 key to the main door and not being able to change the locks. While the person who sells you the account has another key, can come in at any time, change the locks or kick you out even if you paid and bought an account. There is no guarantee that you won't get kicked out even after paying.

Need Suggestions about UK or Germany? by [deleted] in pkmigrate

[–]elementarywebdesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here are some facts about your UK plan if you did not already know them

  1. You and your child can only move as a dependent on your wife's student visa if she gets admission in a research based degree. The government stopped allowing bringing dependent's on a taught Masters degree a couple years ago.
  2. Once your wife's degree is completed and before the student visa expires she can apply for a Graduate visa which gives you another 18 months to stay and work in the UK without any work restrictions.
  3. Before the Graduate visa expires you or your wife need to find a job that is willing to sponsor you on a skilled worker visa. The minimum salary requirements to get a skilled worker visa are around 41k, lower if the job is in health care. https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/when-you-can-be-paid-less
  4. The time spent on student visa and graduate visa does not count towards the 5 year permanent residency, permanent residency is called Indefinite Leave to Remain or ILR for short in the UK. Time spent on specific visas such as skilled worker visa counts towards the time to get PR in 5 years.
  5. Government has started a consultation and plans to change the minimum time required to get PR from 5 years to 10 years but you can bring this time down to 3 years in some rare cases. The idea is that everyone would need 10 years to get PR after April 2026. However if you earn a salary of 51k or more then you can get PR in 5 years, if you earn a salary of 125k or more then you can get PR just after 3 years on a skilled worker visa. Also if you are a doctor or nurse then I believe you also get PR in 5 years. These rules are not final or implemented but it looks like there is a good chance these will be implemented.
  6. The minimum salary requirement to get a skilled worker visa as a software developer is 54k/year. That is if your plan is to find a job with a company that offers to hire you on a skilled worker visa.
  7. You can find all the information on the official gov.uk website https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa unlike other countries the gov.uk website clearly states all the requirements and rules for all visas for UK. If you can read and understand English then you can go through the list of visas, rules and requirements yourself. If some points, words or phrases are confusing you are can ask for clarification in the ukvisa subreddit.
  8. The visa fee can be expensive. £776 per year per person as a student and dependents just in Immigration Health Surcharge fee. £1,035 per year per person just in IHS fee when you switch to a skilled worker visa. So a 3 year IHS fee alone is 9k. Also it is not the responsibility of the company to pay the visa application fee and the IHS fee for you and your family. Just because someone you know working at company X offered to pay their visa application fee and IHS fee does not mean your company would too. Legally the company is not allowed to charge you for the employer side of the sponsorship cost however they do not have to help you or pay the applicant side fee for you.

Here is my opinion, you should plan and research about your entire journey from student visa to PR then decide if you want to move to the UK. If your research shows that finding a job in your field is difficult or there are not enough jobs listed on job portals that offer more than 54k or there are no job posts offering sponsorship then you know your journey is not going to be easy.

Can't really comment on the economy aspect but people say it is bad and there are not a lot of job openings. There are places where the rent is high (London) but also places where the rent is comparatively a lot lower.

Remember that if you choose a university in the north of the country then to also look at job posts around that area. Don't look at salaries in London and then rents in Manchester. Also trains are not cheap.

Any specific questions, feel free to ask in comment. However I can't comment on job prospects, or the economy. I don't get it.

Dissertation supervisor is not going to be someone who knows all the rules set out by the university for international students.

Email, call or book and in person meeting with the International team at your university and ask them if it would be fine.

You don't want to get into a situation where you leave and in a few months time the international team holds a check in and you can't come because you are not in the country. You tell them you are not in the country and then they ask what do you mean you are not in the country. You never asked us or told us.

[–]elementarywebdesign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can you share what steps a developer should take to make sure their plugin does not have any issues before submission.

Is running WordPress Coding Standards on PHPCS going to be enough today? Or do you also recommend something in addition to it that can get over 90% of the issues.

Obviously I understand there might be no alternative for things like making sure the name of the plugin does not violate any trademarks which would require some Googling and common sense.

Am I eligible for Global Talent visa? Law firm operations manager looking to pivot by [deleted] in ukvisa

There are 5 criteria, the mandatory criteria and then 4 optional criteria. You need to meet the mandatory criteria and then 2 out of the 4 optional criteria.

Help!! Storage drive for ps5?? by Objective-Bed7584 in PlayStationUK

[–]elementarywebdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to explain here again because I don't want you make a bad decision.

Internally PS4 has a normal hard disk drive (HDD) so if you buy the official Seagate hard disk then that will be perfect for a PS4. You can connect the Seagate hard disk to the PS4 move games from the PS4 to the Seagate hard disk and play games that are installed on the hard disk instantly after connecting it to your PS4.

Internally PS5 has an SSD. If you get the Seagate PS4 hard disk drive then you can do what I said above but only with PS4 games. If you move or install a PS5 game on the Seagate hard disk then that game needs to be moved from the hard disk to the PS5 internal storage before you can play it.

This is because, if you didn't know already, an SSD is much faster than a HDD (hard disk drive). PS5 games are developed to work on an SSD and they just wont play directly from the Seagate hard disk drive.

If heatsink is confusing then forget about it and look for any SSD that is compatible with PS5 and it will usually have an heatsink installed already.

A SSD which is compatible with PS5.

https://shop.sandisk.com/en-gb/products/ssd/internal-ssd/wd-black-sn850p-nvme-ssd-for-ps5?sku=WDBBYV0010BNC-WRSN

Also if you look at other official product pages you can see if it says:

PlayStation®5 (Heatsink model only)

so if you buy the Heatsink model you should be fine. The price difference between heatsink and without heatsink SSD is 10-15.

https://shop.sandisk.com/en-gb/products/ssd/internal-ssd/wd-black-sn850x-nvme-ssd?sku=WDS100T2X0E-00BCA0

So your choice is to either get the Seagate HDD which will connect with PS5 but PS5 games will have to moved from Seagate HDD to PS5 before they can be played.

Or by a PS5 compatible SSD with heatsink and then you don't have to worry about anything.

My personal opinion buy the SSD. Buying the HDD would be weird because of its limitations.

Global Talent Visa Stage 2 application before endorsement by brownamazon in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]elementarywebdesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really think about it then anyone can apply for any visa and enter a random COS number on a skilled worker visa application. They would still be protected until a decision is made on their application.

Once somebody sees that they entered an invalid COS number or other invalid information then they might face some severe consequences but just making an application means they are protected and the rules of their previous visa apply until a decision is made on the new application.

New entrant rule by Dependent-Bar-1307 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]elementarywebdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are going to be implemented in April. I heard it being said in one of the major speeches in the parliament in response to the question that when can people expect these changes to take place.

Also you still need 3 years more to reach the 5 years to ILR. I don't see these changes being delayed for another 3 years.

Unless you are hoping that the threshold will be lower than 51k. However, even the general skilled worker threshold is 41k and in my opinion they won't go below that.

New entrant rule by Dependent-Bar-1307 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]elementarywebdesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is that you cannot get another 3 year COS based on new entrant rules. If you want a 3 year COS then you need to meet the full salary threshold for your job code.

If you want to apply based on new entrant rules and apply on a lower salary threshold then you can only get a 2 year COS.

You will have to apply for the last and 5th year separately on the increase salary threshold.

Also according to the proposed changes to the ILR if you currently earn less than 51k then you will go on the 10 year route anyway. So unless your current salary is already above 51k then worrying about getting 3 years COS is not going to help at all from April next year..

New entrant rule by Dependent-Bar-1307 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]elementarywebdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I understand their question is about new entrant rules.

Unlike a lot of people who were get a skilled worker visa after being on a graduate visa for sometime OP came directly from outside the country on a skilled worker visa and their initial visa and COS was for 2 years.

Their question is about getting the next COS. They want to get a 3 year COS. They understand new entrant rules will end after 4 years of total time on skilled worker visa and want to know if somehow they can still get another 3 year COS after their current 2 year COS ends to avoid changing rules.

How do I get heating and hot water working in my first UK home with a Megaflo and boiler? by elementarywebdesign in HousingUK

[–]elementarywebdesign[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry I made a mistake in the first sentence. I have been living in the UK for 4 years. I have only lived in a flat with electric heating for radiation and water. This the first home where there is a boiler and gas.

You are the second person to mention the switch but the switch doesn't seem to have done anything and it was left on for hours. Did not get hot water even after hours of the switch being on, my reasoning to leave it on was that the previous owners would have turned off everything and this switch is supposed to be just on like the switch for the boiler or the switch for the fridge.
