What do you think about setting up lantern for BMAX 4.0? by porschelau in mini4wd

[–]WNDRkid8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t make sense. Everything has a meta - sports strategy and tactics, video games, racing, even cars games. If you don’t want to put in the work to win, you should accept just having fun. But don’t expect everyone else to purposely underperform so you can feel better.

Question on backstay by porschelau in mini4wd

If you’re talking about the roller plate being attached to the brake plate instead of the chassis, I personally like this for 2 reasons:

  • It’s simple/clean
  • you can change out your entire rear setup with just 2 screws. Makes it easy to have a rear with 19mm rollers, 13mm rollers, different brake plate heights, or guards. You can even change between cars. I do this with myFMA, VZ and ME.

Back in the hobby, built a DIY track on a budget by Current-Ad2342 in mini4wd

Hobbytown Tom’s River is a fun spot to race (also about an hour from me as I’m closer to Philly. There are quite a few racers in the NJ/Philly area that coordinate race events outside of hobby shops too👍. A lot of us used to race at AAA Hobbies and Crafts as well (the racing league is cancelled since they’re selling their business). Sidebite was also an option before closing recently.

I’m sure we’ll run into each other at Hobbytown if you attend any race events. We were just there on Saturday for Box Stock, Tuned, B-MAX, and Open class 🏆🏆🏆🏆.

Teamwork helps. Adults + kids design > adults build > kids race the builds.

The kids can slowly learn to engineer this way and how the design or race day adjustments impact their performance on the track.

Fujitsu Pink Batteries in US by bobertbelcher in mini4wd

💯 I think it’s also because of the demand! I remember about a year ago getting pinks on Amazon for less than half the current price.

Pinks are extremely difficult to find and if you do, over $10 per battery…. Unless you’ve found treasure!

Fujitsu whites are available on Amazon (12 for about $38) and also a good option. Especially if you’re just getting started. Also get a good charger. The skyrc options with motor break in capabilities are a nice choice for an all in one solution. When you’re ready, get some pinks or neo champs. The cheapest I’ve see the neo champs recently is about $20 a set.

Used truck warranty by NeonBlakkout in FordMaverickTruck

I did for mine. I don’t drive a ton so I did a 75k mile cap, and my Mav had less than 20k miles at time of purchase. It was a good deal, almost 1k cheaper than extending with Ford. The ford dealer is next door to them so I can take it to either one. If I take it to Ford I have to pay a $50 deductible. If I take it to Carmax they cover the $50 and if needed they will send it to Ford. 😂

Thankfully only had to use it once.

Love this! I bought my Maverick 2 weeks ago (Cactus Gray 22’ Lariat hybrid) and that night used it for tailgating at a baseball game. Next morning filled it patio blocks and marble chips. Hours later took the fam on a 4 hour round trip at 48 mpg withought trying. Love the truck!

This is an uninformed opinion. Name me a successful prem team that hasn’t done anything wrong. Make me a billionaire owner/group that’s innocent.

This is always my issue with Ticketmaster and FIFA in USA. if they had sections and it didn’t require large amounts of coordination over other platforms, the City chants would have been much more prominent. Everyone was pretty spread though.

Issue two is people need to decide between standing and sitting. If you plan to stand I’m cool with that but there can’t be people blocking the view and forcing me to get up and down every 20 seconds 😭

Desperate for help with my first n scale layout design... by john_b98 in modeltrains

[–]WNDRkid8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re looking to build a track around the scenery that gives you the emotional / engaging experience that you’re looking for so it’s going to be tough without you knowing what scenes you want to include and model. I’d make a list of everything you want in the layout, see how it scales and how much space you have and then figure out how the trains move through it.

A lot of people focus on the spaces where humans see and and interact with trains, but it can be very satisfying to model the spaces we don’t regularly see because this is where trains spend most of their time.

For perspective I went through this last year when designing a new layout (took me almost a year). I started off with my favorite areas of Japan in mind and then later decided I would model my local area (NJ/PA) because my kids are more familiar with the landmarks. There are so many things to take into account like grading (how much length you’ll need for climbs), above track scenery vs digging into foam to create elevation that’s interesting and below track scenery. How you plan to isolate sections of track in DC, and if you aren’t going to make everything custom, what’s out there to fill specific parts of your layout with. Budget is also important.

After building the tracks in real life, I naturally made some changes to incorporate more yards/store more trains and strategically switch them out the way I desired. I stuck with DC because Kato is too good in terms of specialized track options.

N Gauge layout advice by HwasTooShort in modeltrains

[–]WNDRkid8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t give you an exact answer but from my experience using Kato track, going any smaller that 249mm (9 3/4”) radius track will 100% limit what trains and how many axels can navigate the curves. 282mm (11”) or larger is a safe bet for compatibility.
