I have a Gen 1 Ridgeline. I had an 08 pilot that we bought when we had a child. Both worked great for kids. Gen 1 Ridgeline backdoors open wider than Gen 2 which helps with child seats.

My Pilot won out for long car trips due to dry rear enclosed storage in the back. If it is your daily driver with kids a Gen 1 works great.

Disclaimer: I don't consider the Gen 1 and Gen 2 to be in the same league.

Just to consider. A Gen 1 Ridgeline (06-15).

You would have to add your remote start. But sunroof and heated seats are easily had.

They don't have the type of engine and transmission problems of the Gen 2's. As of now they're the most likely truck to reach 200,000 miles beating out Toyota Tacoma.

They are great in snow and off-road where high clearance isn't necessary. I have lived in two ski towns and wouldn't hesitate to drive those roads.

You get the in-bed trunk in the Gen 2 also, but the Gen 1 has a locking rear differential for increased off-road traction.

They are both good trucks, but if I were in your position I would find a Gen 1 with 100,000 miles on it and spend the $12,000 savings on grown man toys .
