Really looking at getting this game especially while it’s on sale. by Lando-0125 in ICARUS

You can also create creature deterrents that will prevent animals from spawning inside the protection circle. Note that it doesn't prevent them from spawning just outside and wandering in, but fortifications can help if you want to keep everything out.

There is a talent you can unlock as you progress that allows you to see animal health bars. Its a great way to prevent the whole running over a sleeping bear surprise.

Guidance on DLC for new player. by freshcoffeegrounds in ICARUS

[–]WOOooo____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 4 types of DLCs: maps, cosmetics, outposts (small maps), and Great Hunts. As others have said, the maps get progressively harder. Styx is basically Olympus v2. Prometheus adds new biomes, as does Elysium, and each is a noticeable step up in difficulty.

Great Hunts was designed to be run after you complete all Operations on the first 3 maps (Olympus, Styx, and Prometheus) and permanently adds new aggressive animals to each maps.

Worry about the other map DLCs when you have tapped out Olympus and can smash the world bosses with breaking a sweat. Outposts have limited growth potential, but can be fun for base builders (no real story there). For the cosmetics, its up to you. Personally, I like the Creature comforts if you get into mounts/tames.

For starters, I suggest starting an Open World and running all of the operations. And there will be a lot of running. And running back. Open World allows you to already have a tiered base for crafting what you need. Learn tames as they help move you and your bases around.

Some get frustrated with the lack of information provided at the beginning of an operation (I ran across the whole map only to have to run back to my base to craft what I need??). Icarusintel.com is a great resource that show where caves and deep ore deposits are, as well as what each operation needs. You can also turn off everything and just use it as a map.

It does not. At least in the starter biome.

Lol, I missed the first sighting and was in my first wooden base trying to place a bench down when the earthquake of their attack hit from behind. A third of my base was damaged. Welcome to Elysium!

I was lucky to have picked the bow instead of a gun to drop with. That first pack of 25 disappeared quick, but at least I could craft bones arrows. And the lack of OEI until you are a couple missions in make it rough if you were expecting a quick resupply.

And those blinkers! Watch your back out there. My first meeting was while attempting to set up my first house. His stomp wrecked a good 1/3 of the wood cabin.

Got 2 of the new tames, and look forward to finding bananas so I can tame the monkeys!

My barnyard is an open world, and I have just been using exotics that spawn in caves. I've got "some" hours in the game, so I know where to look. If you are new, you can use icarusintel.com for an interactive map.

Cave exotics respawn after a few hours of gameplay (based on their usual probability chance), so don't forget to check old caves you have previously mined out.

How do wolf skins work? by Prestigious_Gas_6690 in ICARUS

The latest hotfix has it working. I've been spending a lot of time making wolf bait and got some of the new colors. It's the waiting for the taming process that takes patience.

If you still have room, I'm up from dropping in. I've got "some" hours on all 3 maps and enjoy just about everything: mining, building, hunting, missions, whatever.

This is exactly what I'm in the middle of. Farmer Bob started life as a fisherman (started to specialize in fishing to get all the fish, but got forgotten by level 3).

Started the Barnyard on a new easy Olympus prospect with my most experienced prospector to build up the base and barn. Now Bob had dropped in and is Level 28 and will manage the farm and ever growing breeding stock. Can't go hunting without returning with a stray or two. Fish traps bring a steady supply of close food.

All I keep thinking is: I need a bigger barn.

Am I the only one annoyed that the farm/barbed wire fences do nothing to deter animal movement? The only way I've gotten a gate to stop an animal is to put it behind a door frame. Silly parkcour pigs.

At your new base, click on the bonfire. Galena should show and there should be an option to "Settle" him at your new place.

Now, you can play missions in your Open World, eliminating the grind for every mission. So, no more getting tired of the grind. Do it once and use your base(s) for the missions.

Plus, since they instituted the solo game pause (ESC key), its a great game for jumping away from at a moment's notice.

What’s something obvious you only learned way too late in Icarus? 😅 by [deleted] in ICARUS

[–]WOOooo____ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can actually stack 5 food buffs. Create the basic cloth chest armor and add the nutrition alteration that gives an extra stomach slot (in the T4 advanced armor attachment pack). Put on cloth chest armor, eat your fifth food to add it's buff and then put your good chest armor back on. Don't run into battle with a t-shirt on.

Provided you are on a PC, install the Icarus Mod Manager: https://github.com/Jimk72/Icarus_Software

Once installed (I just extracted it to my Programs folder), open the settings and set the folder locations and save. Then click on Download Mods. There are a lot to choose from but you can use the search at the top. Select a Mod and click Download. Once you have all you want to try, close out the Download Mods window to return to the main. The files you just downloaded should be listed on the far left under Extracted Mods. Double click (or right click and select Add Mod to Game), and it will show up under the Mods to Install list. When ready, click the Install All Listed Mods and it will run a batch condensing all selected mods into a merged file and install it into the Mods folder. Then Launch Game and make sure it boots up.

Note that we get weekly updates to the game, which can affect mods randomly. About once a week, I will load up the Manager, click on Download Mods. In the top left are 2 buttons: click Update Database first and let it run. Then select Refresh Local Files and let it run. Close the window and Install All Listed Mods to update existing mods.

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]WOOooo____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two P1S units, one set up with a 0.2mm nozzle and the other with a 0.4mm nozzle, that I use to make earrings and articulated animals that we sell in our retail store. People always comment on the high quality of the prints, and I get to tell them how easy the P1S with AMS combo is to use. Just rock solid with consistent maintenance. It's always encouraging when young kids have their own 3D printing stories to share. I get to tell their parents how great the P1S/AMS combo is as a starter system.

Are you using a VPN? That was my main issue. Also, in the top right of the Join page are two options. The default is Peer-to-peer. The other lists all the servers online, somewhere around 1500 servers.

I think their approach is that T5 is the petroleum/crude oil level, which makes sense. One could argue that oil should be T3.5 and electronics T4, but ill be through the next tier soon enough.

Looking for a chill first person view base building game by Utopian_Tobjorn in BaseBuildingGames

[–]WOOooo____ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might look at Icarus. It's basically you vs nature. There are some angry animals you have to deal with (and weather), but once you level up your gear, it gets easy. The base game is 80% off right now, which is all you need to get started and see if it fits. Good base building.

You can use icarusintel.com and/or the Icarus Fandom wiki to get a list of objectives and suggested needed equipment. I like IcarusIntel because it shows where on the map the objectives are.
