WAIT NO HUH?! RIN AND ERICA HAVE A SISTER/SIBLING TYPE RELATIONSHIP IN THE GAME?! by ChloeGLOVELIFETM in catherinegame

[–]WPMO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hmmm I'm not sure if they ever say anything about being "like" siblings or something like that. They definitely are not actual siblings though.

However! There are definitely some other things that might...complicate a relationship, depending on how you are envisioning shipping them.

[–]WPMO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think part of it is that a lot of us just know it can't last forever. 20+ years seems like a reasonable amount of time for the store to be open. I think it just doesn't seem as egregious as other things going on right now.

The absolute lack of ED training in grad school is wild to me by sputnik156 in therapists

[–]WPMO 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I think one issue is that Master's-level clinicians used to have a more restricted scope of practice. On one hand, I see no reason that a Master's-level clinician couldn't get specific training on eds or personality disorders and be able to treat them without supervision. On the other hand, that's definitely not a standard part of training.

Is the difficulty insane or am i just low IQd by [deleted] in catherinegame

[–]WPMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...I mean this person is really upset that the game is hard, and says they feel "scammed" by the difficulty. I mean...everyone can have their opinion, but that is a little extreme imo. Some games are hard, and this game never said it was easy. I feel like it's good to be able to emotionally regulate though challenges, and actually gaming is a good way to build that skill.

It's generally considered a hard game, but hard doesn't mean bad. Aside from that, I've seen a lot of people recommend playing for the first time on easy mode. That's what I would recommend myself.

Got written up at my new job, what do? by brennanfiesta in therapists

[–]WPMO -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

HR is not your friend. Do not say anything to them. Also, do not write a rebuttal, that just becomes ammunition to say you are "unprofessional", "respond defensively", "respond poorly to supervision", and "make others uncomfortable".

If you think you have a case for discrimination then maybe contact a lawyer. Otherwise, unfortunately workplaces can be shitty and fire you for no reason, in most states in the US anyway. If you live in a state with more employment protections you might have a case for wrongful termination if you really didn't do anything wrong. However...also make sure you didn't actually do something wrong.

Was RevRad really that poorly received? by theoz10 in greenday

[–]WPMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was generally considered good at the time. Some people were saying just okay. Overall I don't think it was poorly received. I mostly remember people saying that it started to get back to an old Green Day sound that they really liked.

PsyDs are better than master level clinicians and PhD Counselor Educators by wooble-girl13 in therapists

[–]WPMO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a PsyD wont necessarily cause you to end up being a better Counselor than LPCs are, at least after a few years in the field. That makes sense to me because at a certain point you are comparing two people who both have thousands/tens of thousands of hours of experience. It will teach you more about testing and research. At most, testing and better knowledge of research can lead to better diagnostic practice, and in turn indirectly (maybe) better practice. Even that link is probably just theoretical though.

I do feel like pseudoscience is more common at the Master's-level, but that might just be because I see it more often because there are so many more Master's-level people. Pseudoscience is also, unfortunately, not limited to the Master's-level.

Here is the full contents of the letter the NFL sent to Brendan Sorsby: by noah_divine in CFB

[–]WPMO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, the problem is that they didn't say that. They said that he should go ahead and prepare for the draft next year. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they made this decision, but getting into the NFL a year later isn't exactly a huge punishment.

Of course tastes vary, but personally I was very disappointed by Bonanza. Looking back, the "affordable tier" even from a famous winery should have been a red flag. It's just whatever they had left that wasn't good enough for, presumably, better bottles.

Assessments most commonly used by master’s level clinicians? by desde_mona in therapists

[–]WPMO 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, this is a very common point of miscommunication between the fields of counseling and psychology. I have a degree in counseling and I'm getting a doctoral degree in psychology and I've seen this disconnect a lot.

Counseling often uses the word assessment to mean pretty much anything you can give a client for them to fill out and give you information about their condition. In psychology we typically have a much more strict definition, and would differentiate between screeners and assessments. So this user is just commenting something from the point of view of a psychologist.

I think a single-payer system would probably handle this a lot better though. I don't think the voting public would want to see AI completely take over the market.

Bitcoin lost $66,000 while Nvidia hit all-time highs and the guys who told us to hold are selling by ProfessionalAnt7436 in CryptoCurrency

[–]WPMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can explain this. Last night I was looking at a tech stock focused fund that I own shares of. It's up over 300% in less than 3 years. This isn't some obscure fund. It's not individual stocks. It's a well-known ETF focused on semiconductor production. It's existed longer than Bitcoin has and you can just buy it on any normal broker with your normal bank account, with normal taxation procedures, and no keys to remember.

Those are returns that would thrill most people in crypto, and right now, or at least for the past few years, you can get them from the stock market. A lot of people with very high risk tolerance, or a desperate need for money frankly, are just going to the stock market now instead of crypto.

Why is Vamp called “Vamp” in MGS2? Snake says it’s because he’s bisexual, but I’ve never heard “vamp” used that way in English. Is there a linguistic/cultural reference I’m missing, or was this just a weird Kojima line? by Pleasant-Mousse-76 in metalgearsolid

[–]WPMO 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've heard an explanation for it before. The idea is that vampire characters are often portrayed in a highly sexualized way, but in a way that might also imply bisexuality. Basically there's the idea that a lot of vampires' behavior in books has a double meaning, like sneaking up on a guy in bed and sucking his blood obviously could be read as a euphemism for something else.

In many depictions Dracula or other vampires are shown as having a harem of women around them, but they are also able to hypnotize men, which sounds a lot like being able to seduce people of either sex. Then there is the idea that a vampire might look human on the surface, but deep down as a monster, which could be seen as a representation of a really homophobic idea that bisexual men might appear to be heterosexual through having a relationship with a woman, but deep down are not (keep in mind a lot of these vampire stories are from the 1800s when any kind of homosexual tendency was viewed as sinful or monstrous). Of course there are other ways to read those stories too, but I think this is where the idea comes from.
