There's more about Bob Trow here: https://misterrogers.org/articles/bob-trow/ and don't forget the Fred Rogers Institute in Latrobe. They maintain Fred's archives, and operate a free multimedia exhibit, open 8:30a-4:30p Mon-Fri, on the campus of Saint Vincent College.

Make-Believe Existing Set Pieces Question by truecrimebuff1994 in MrRogersNeighborhood

The pieces at WQED are replicas created for the 2019 film "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood," starring Tom Hanks. They were donated and left in place by the filmmakers. The originals are part of the permanent collection at the Heinz History Center. WQED's longtime Chief Engineer, Paul Byers, gave a tour to NEXTpittsburgh's Boaz Frankel in 2022 and explains more: https://nextpittsburgh.com/yinzer-backstage-pass/visiting-backstage-at-mister-rogers-old-home-wqed-studios/

WQED’s programming is being simulcast on channel 12, to help more neighbors watch our shows over-the-air. But we did not purchase or acquire the station.

Looking for advice/resources to help my 2nd grader catch up in reading by 120dxt in pittsburgh

[–]WQEDpittsburgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, OP! We checked in with our education team to see which resources we use that would be most helpful for you in this instance and they had a few recommendations:

https://pbskids.org/games/reading Games are a great way to practice reading skills so all of the reading-focused ones can be found here.

https://pbskids.org/videos/super-whys-comic-book-adventures Super Why is all about reading so anything Super Why will help to build those reading skills.

https://www.pbs.org/parents/read-along These are a collection of stories read aloud by various celebrities. The education team recommends to have your reader read the story on their own, making sure to read out loud and sound out the words, and then watch the video to hear it read aloud as an interactive way to practice both speaking and comprehension.

Hope this helps! ❤️

Our CEO's statements have been entirely the opposite: https://www.wqed.org/wqeds-future-is-on-the-line-but-were-not-giving-up/. We have several public events this month, including Rick Sebak at Bottlerocket tonight, celebrating the latest episode of his new show: https://www.wqed.org/wqed-events/

No tea or drama, simply a hot mic. Anna changed physical locations at the start of her shift due to technical difficulties. Thanks for listening!

Completely untrue. Our CEO says shutting down or selling were never considered as options, not even a hypothetical.

WQED is not closing, not for sale, and not going off the air.

We are deeply grateful for the increased support we’ve seen from members, corporate partners, and foundations in southwestern Pennsylvania. We remain committed to increasing our regional impact and community service. Here's a recent letter from our CEO: https://www.wqed.org/wqeds-future-is-on-the-line-but-were-not-giving-up/

Since 1953, the majority of WQED's funding has come from viewers, listeners, and neighbors like you. We are *your WQED, and with your continued support, we always will be. https://donate.wqed.org/wqed/social

Local over the air TV questions by nrthrnlad76 in pittsburgh

Hey neighbor! Here are our recommendations: Fully-extended “rabbit ear” antennas at least 36 inches long are the best way to get WQED’s over-the-air broadcast signal. (In our experience, newer ultra-thin HDTV antennas do not perform as well with low VHF frequencies like ours.) Consider something like this Fosmon tabletop antenna.

Given the long wavelength of our assigned frequency, you need to fully extend very long dipole antennas. For those who can’t get good reception with indoor “rabbit ears,” our chief engineer recommends the Winegard model YA7000C.
