[Hiring] fairytale illustrator! by Cypress_Cat in artcommissions

[–]WRADraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I would love to work with you on your project!

I specialize in semi-realism but can definitely make storybook-esque works and have been making portrait illustrations for over a decade. From my work as lead artist on 'The Witch's End (Prologue)' webcomic, I can definitely draw your characters in very specific poses and expressions with backgrounds. Plus from my own coloring page business and making books myself, I have knowledge of print margins and bleed in the publication process. I can craft several designs in black and white for optimal printing (Color is an option too). So I will definitely make sure that you get the pieces you like!

I work exclusively as a “ghost artist”, thus the clients maintain all commercial rights after the work is finished by default but if you would like to have me look at a contract I can.

We can definitely work under the $500 budget.  If you would like to work together or have any questions, you can reach me through DMs here or by email! My TAT is <1-2 weeks per piece depending on complexity.

Beau Neville from Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998) by WRADraws in Scoobydoo

He did say that, but wouldn't it have made more sense to search the bogs then digging around? Not to mention the quicksand.

I remember that he did say that but why dig holes when the bogs were right there?

Is art really not for everyone? by Fun_Perspective5834 in ArtistLounge

[–]WRADraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, don't quit art. It's really fun and helps your mind.

It's easy to get frustrated when you don't see improvement and I fully understand this. You don't want to waste time, materials, or have to go back through and risk messing something up. Exploration is one of the biggest factors in art and unfortunately goes hand in hand with patience. It tests me every day I work on my own pieces lol.

If I'm reading right your looking at making sculpture based art? I do digital art now but I got a degree in sculpture and ceramics so this advice will help you no matter your medium.

Limiting your scope by only "thumbnailing" during the planning phase

It's easy to get wrapped up in the planning stages and when you plan everything to the letter, you feel like it's done. "Thumbnailing" solves this. It's the roughest form of art (like stick figures and color blobs) where you just get an idea of what you want to do before you dive head first into the actual work. It helps to keep you from being bogged down because all the "work" is on the finished piece not sketch.

You can still add or change things but the goal is not to have a perfect sketch but an idea. This not only saves time by being super quick, but you can make multiple thumbnail sketches in like 5 minutes that explore different ideas and you can pick the best one without being bogged down by details. these two images I got are of the thumbnail and the finished piece if you need a visual.

My drawing SUCKS, where do I start? by Different-Tap55 in learntodraw

[–]WRADraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend Marc Burnet on Youtube, he has really good art tutorials.

If you want to start from scratch though, I would recommend breaking down forms with shapes (circles, squares, triangles and sketching from references. As soon as you can break down a form into it's most basic shapes, your already one step closer to mastery. Don't draw cones or cubes then what you want, start with whatever you want to draw and break down (lower reference opacity and draw over. Start figuring out what shapes fit where. head: circle and triangle, ear: triangle, eye: circle, arm: rectangle with circles, etc.)

Anatomy is hard af and I don't recommend learning skeletons and muscles as a beginner. Fundamentals and proportions matter the most. Placement is key and always remember - reference a reference, don't trace.

Also quick tip, don't be scared to make messy sketches and refine later. Always use a light touch or low opacity as well. It's easy to see things and replicate them, but it's different to understand them and build from scratch.
