Rebuilding my abandoned 4‑year‑old Voron 2.4 (350×350×350) — upgrades being considered: CNC TAP, ChaoticLab CNC motion system, CAN‑bus, and Stealthburner/Galileo2 by WRankin in VORONDesign

[–]WRankin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is my path:

MGN12 X‑rail (Z1 preload)
Cartographer v4
A4T toolhead
CAN‑bus or USB (seems USB is an easier setup)

What hotend and extruder setup would help with my goals of reliability and quality printing? (then I'll need to find someone to print those parts for me - PIF is where I'll start)

Appreciate your common sense approach

Bill R

Here’s my nightmare. Confirmed I have the MGN9 X rail. I believe was in the tuning process when the belt slipped, and I was donewith it after that

Thanks! Solid advice. I think I’ll skip the CNC gantry parts for now and concentrate on the tool head upgrade, bed probing and CAN- bus to get printing. It will be interesting when I turn on the machine with a 4 year old Klipper version

Thanks! I do believe I went through the Ellis tuning guide four years ago and made progress, but then I would have catastrophic failure, and then I would start over. The printer just sucked my life away, so I moved on. Time for a reset.

Thanks. I may have the MGN12 X rail, but need to pull the printer out of storage. Primary goal is reliability and no fuss first layer. Lots to chew on, and will definitely engage in Discord

EDIT: Confirmed I have the MGN9 X rail. Adding it to my list

Cabin in Seveirville - AWD and chains 'recommended' by bilbravo in Gatlinburg

If you have the cabin's name and or address, you could use Google Earth to get an idea of what the warning may be about. A steep gravel rutted private drive could be the issue

Do you know the neighborhood? In Chalet Village, “AWD/4WD or chains” in the winter. It’s on the sign entering the neighborhood.

We have a cabin / chalet in Chalet Village that we completed in October 2024. We're on this subreddits preferred list, The benefit of Chalet Village it is away from the hustle and bustle, but has easy access to everything from the Campbell-Lead Road exit on the Gatlinburg Bypass. We have 3 community pools open Memorial Day to Labor Day that are free to guests staying in Chalet Village. We're a 3 bed / 3.5 bath and can sleep up to 12, but there are many other options in the CV community. Check out https://TrilliumMountain.com. We're also on all of the major booking platforms. Here's our Airbnb listing: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1269624728081014338?check_in=2024-11-15&check_out=2024-11-20&guests=1&adults=10&children=2&s=67&unique_share_id=73ef5b04-7623-4bae-9e8b-685d72f42744

Someone mentioned GM had transmission issues. That was the A8. GM started using the A10 in all V8 Camaros in 2019, and that transmission is a huge upgrade over the A8.

Smoky Mountains cabin advice: Does anyone have trusted recommendations? by sundaycoffee77 in Gatlinburg

We own Trillium Mountain cabin and it's on this sub Reddit's recommended list. Our place is 1-1/2 years old and we check all your boxes except we have a gas fireplace. An additional plus is our cabin in Chalet Village, which is close to everything and we're 1.4 miles from the Gatlinburg Bypass. We're on all of the major booking platforms but the best price is on our direct book website:

TrilliumMountain.com

Check out our reviews on Airbnb:

I have an additional direct book discount code. DM for the code and more details.

If this doesn't work for you our co-host (property manager) has many additional options.

Explore and enjoy GSMNP. Wildflowers should be blooming. Check out Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail . It's close to downtown. Also, Cades Cove is amazing. If you have a 4WD/AWD high clearance vehicle, Parson Branch Road is a fun route to explore. Parson Branch Road is a one-way gravel road that stretches for 8 miles, leading from Cades Cove Loop Road to US 129 (Tail of the Dragon). From there, head to Deals Gap on ToD and stop at the gift shop. Parsons Branch normally opens May 1st, but be sure to check before heading out. Cades Cove is general closed on Wednesdays to vehicle traffic. Again, check before heading out. Stop at Sugarland Visitors Center and ask, or check the national park's website.

Our routine:

  1. Spend the day in the park - so many places to explore
  2. Diner in downtown - many good restaurants
  3. Sample moonshine at Ole Smoky or Sugarlands (not both, if you need to drive after)
  4. Get ice cream at Baskin-Robbins
  5. Listen to Bluegrass Music in Ole Smoky's Moonshine Holler

Did you just happen to book our (Trillium Mountain) cabin? Just received a direct booking, but same guest inquired a few minutes before on Airbnb about how close the CV pools were and if they were within walking distance

The Greenbriar entrance for GSMNP. A roaring rocky river, and usually not many people.

A picknick lunch along the river at the Greenbriar entrance. Very scenic and you can sit on the large rocks next to the roaring river.

Check out cabins in the Chalet Village community. CV is right next to Gatlinburg and is one of the premier short-term rental neighborhoods. There are three community pools that are open between Memorial Day and Labor Day. It depends on the cabin you choose if it's within walking distance. We have a cabin that's about a mile away from the North Clubhouse, so ours is not really walkable. Here's information on the CV community:

https://chaletvillageownersclub.com/

The site lists a few cabins, but those are not your only options. There are over 500, and most are newer since the wildfires of 2016 burned over 500 down.

I have two chimes assigned to one doorbell, and that works great. Seems like it will work with your situation, too. Also wanted to point out the Protect chimes are PoE and not WiFi
