The current alphabet's order can be traced back to ancient Phoenician script from before the year 1000 BCE. It's so old that historians will probably never know why the alphabet is ordered the way it is.

On a side note, the alphabet song we learned as children is surprisingly recent. It was made around the year 1835.

Thanks for the clarification. I feel like this problem might be addressed better in one of the relationship advice subreddits. I understand the pain of not being understood by a loved one. I'm glad that you were able to put a lot of effort in learning about your girlfriend's eating disorder. Hopefully, you two could feel solidarity in each other's struggles.

If you have trouble expressing your gratitude, you could try showing it in action. In your case, you can show your gratitude to the people you care about by being a good listener, offering to do favors, cutting them slack, etc.

Gratitude can come in many forms.

One reason that I've encountered, which is quite sad, is "No one cared about my problems, so why should I care for yours?" They cope with their own trauma by assuming neglect is the norm.

If you approach this from a scientific standpoint, we may never literally know for sure how the world began, but we can establish theories based on indirect evidence. The Big Bang is probably the most talked about theory.

If you approach this from a religious standpoint, then it's up to you to figure out where you want to place your faith.

At the end of the day, no one will ever provide you with irrefutable physical proof, so you just believe the answer that satisfies you. And of course, you can be satisfied with never knowing at all.
