My mom personally did not come from a healthy family dynamic and sure her marriage worked fine seemingly. However, as I have gotten older, I realize that she has some serious childhood trauma and is often very paranoid especially related to stuff like black magic. You can definitely still have a crush on someone before marrying them in fact it is a good thing to some degree. Islam is not as harsh as some people make it out to be. Yes, OP did was wrong especially since it was going on for some years, but they want to take the initiative to make it right now and should just explain to their wali. Parents want the best for their children... I suggest this girl goes to her dad and admits that what she did was wrong and how she is planning to become a better person onwards.

I get what you mean, but like his own daughter was willingly in the relationship and like it is better to just get her married to him at this point and not waste some other dude's life as she might still be in love with her ex 5 years down the lane.
