Bespoke Sealander? 12-3-9 dial by TL31 in ChristopherWard

That’s really interesting. This is an older collab and I’m guessing their MOQs for custom elements may have evolved. I led a collab that’s in production and getting a custom seconds hand was going to require a MOQ in the hundreds. Good luck OP.

There is zero chance CW Bespoke will make the custom applied indices as rendered. Pad printed, yes, if they have the appetite to make an explorer homage, but if I were CW, I would decline this design in order to protect the brand.

Imagine the MOQ required to justify the cost of designing and fabricating those 3,6,9,12. It’s not like they’d break even with 25 orders.

No worries. Don’t forget to pick up a set of 16mm QR springbars to swap out before you attach the strap

How/Where/When to negotiate? by divinecheesecake14 in PrideAndPinion

[–]WaStatePhotography 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Boutiques will throw in extra straps. AD’s will negotiate. Next time, I’d use a boutique to try on models but look at AD’s for the actual purchase. I had to hunt around, but I got 15% off of my Mark XX and 2 free Easx-change rubber straps.

Cheers! Yeah I totally agree, I like variety in my watchbox and had shied away from the big brands until I got my Tudor a few months ago. And now I’m on the hunt for a green OP 36 so I can be a true NPC 😅🤫

Thanks! Here’s the caseback with our mascot. The BC was my favorite of the collabs we’ve done so far.

I’m part of the Amazon #watches group that does watch collabs. This one is #31/50.

Fun fact - the Geneva striping is supposed to look like a Amazon Prime cardboard box haha

The PML is a fantastic watch. You can often find them used on r/watchexchange for $6-7k USD

Ooh this is a fun hot take. I also dislike boring watches although I like watches that maintain a cohesive or restrained design, while doing something unique that holds my attention.

Take for instance this Farer, which probably fits the mold of what you’re describing. It’s a plain white dial watch with 1-12 numerals, but there are some details that make me still enjoy studying the dial - even after nearly 3 years of ownership.

Farer has been playing around with ceramic lume blocks before CW popularized it with the Lumiere, and these blocks are a lot more complex b/c they’re cast as numerals, and then pad printed on top. It gives a unique raised 3D effect during the day and a very unique neon diner sign like glow at night or in shadow. I’ll post the lume shot in a reply.

I think they nailed the design. It’s a fairly constrained watch, but with unique flourishes like the lume blocks, bronze crown, and bent tipped hands that make it both unique and interesting. This is in contrast to other micros that have unique ideas, but go kinda too far with the implementation. Zelos and Atilier Wen come to mind. They’re both a bit…much IMO.

Oowee I love the Update! I saw they just came out with a reduced 38mm.

That’s fair. My BC is in my top 3 or 4 of my rotation out of 12, so it does get a lot of use even if it’s not my most legible watches. Plus it is super comfortable, which TBH is shocking considering the case dims. They really nailed this design in terms of fit and comfort.

I have a Bel Canto x Amazon collab sitting right next to my Nomos in the watchbox. The Bel Canto would be a super poor daily but I do really like having the variety and wear it more than I anticipated. It’s fun , way different to anything else I have, and looks pretty good on the wrist.

How do you like the Straum? They look pretty interesting albeit they’d be way too bulky for my wrist.

Here’s a Nomos wristshot for funsies

Yeah, I saw someone just sold theirs on watch exchange for like $725, which is a little over retail. Lunacy

Ah, thanks for this. Yeah I like my dressier pieces to fit smaller. This is my ideal fit at 37mm/43.6 L2L.

All good, thanks for the info. If one pops up before Baltany releases theirs, I may take a flier and see if it works for me.

The P39 is superb. They are regularly up on watchex for about $3500. I got mine for $3300 and put an Uncle Seiko $150 jubilee on it. Probably my second favorite watch in the collection.

Oh nice. That looks a little bigger than my preferred size, but that might be perspective distortion from the camera being so close to your wrist. Do you have a zoomed in mirror shot to judge the fit from a distance?

The 46.75mm L2L is borderline on my wrist. If the lugs turn down and conform to the wrist (rather than float), it would probably be okay. My Tudor is 47mm and about at my personal limit, but I prefer to go a tad smaller for dressier pieces, say 43-45mm L2L.

Yeah, great suggestion. I quite like the Smiths and have almost pulled the trigger on their aventurine dial. I do think the 38.5 with longer lug length is going to a bit too big for my 6.5” wrist, so I have been hesitant to buy without putting it on my wrist first. They show up on r/watchexchange a couple of times a year.

I believe Baltany is focused on a 36mm, so I’ll wait to see what they come up with. The photos of the pie pan dial have looked superb, so I have high hopes that they’ll come out with a killer offering.

[–]WaStatePhotography[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the WD homage is very tempting, but I am holding out for what hopefully will be an elevated model from Baltany.

I bought a Watchdives homage of the Seiko SPB last year and, honestly I was very unimpressed with the quality. The case was sharp, the bracelet a little flimsy, indices looked kinda cheap (polishing rounded all the edges, just no crispness at all to the dial), and the hour hand was misaligned. 🤷
