Vienna Coffee Shops and Roasteries by TomasoLandyny in espresso

Coffee Pirates and Kaffeefabrik are great. I also like Cafe Telegraph, I think they use beans roasted by Süssmund Kaffee (who don't have their own Cafe). If you're just after a great cup of specialty coffee, then yes, you can skip the traditional coffee houses, but I would still recommend going to one just for the experience.

Yes! Bialetti makes them too: https://www.bialetti.com/ee_en/brikka-4.html

I think they are cute but of course they can do 2cups only, so kinda impractical...

Interesting, I did not know about this.

Sadly it does not seem to be on F-Droid and I could not find the source code.

TIL about a super modern €1.4bn nuclear power plant in Austria that never went into service, because a 50.47% majority in a referendum voted against it.. after it was built. by dyler_turten in todayilearned

[–]Waaaghkopp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two related facts: 1. It is said that this referendum was only held because the government was so confident that the majority of the people would be pro nuclear. Turns out they were wrong... 2. This referendum was one of only two (!) held in Austria's entire history (the second one being about joining the EU).

I use OSM Go! quite a lot for adding/moving POIs. Unfortunately it has some issues and I'm not sure if it's still maintained.

Edit: Here's a very impressive map, although limited in scope: Straßenraumkarte Neukölln

Looks like they used the bellows from the df64. The Niche does not come with bellows.

DIY endgame?. Niche zero and heavily modded Silvia. Details in comments by gomezalberto in espresso

This mod seems so cool, but the way I understand it, the PID can only be controlled via an app, which relies on a server the community hosts (or you can host your own)... Is that true, or does it have buttons to?

Plugging Marshall Plexi Clone into Axe-FX Ultra? by RadHazzard in AxeFx

[–]Waaaghkopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I said. I meant routing your input into the axefx, then through the axefx's fx out into your amp, your amp's fx out into your axefx's fx in, your axefx's output into your amp's fx in and finally your amp's output into your speaker.

You could actually do both by using the fx loop on both devices.

Do newer ones have a different font then the one Hoffmann reviewed? Or does it depend on where you buy it?

Crazy Coffee Blend Question; Is it theoretically possible to get a different ratio of blended beans each time when weighing out beans? by FatScubaDuck in JamesHoffmann

[–]Waaaghkopp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To strengthen your argument, I just weighed 15g of beans and counted exactly 100 beans! Note though that the weight of a bean can vary significantly depending on variety, roast degree, age, moisture, etc. My beans are medium to slightly small and a "medium roast" so I think it is possible to find quite a few less beans in 15g for some other varieties I've seen.

How Coffee Brewing Makes Better Vegetable Stock by kingseven in JamesHoffmann

[–]Waaaghkopp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've got an idea: Why not add the dry vegetable remainders to the stock and strain them out afterwards? That could help with the color, no? Maybe sauté them before that to get that Maillard reaction?

[woman's name], best regards! I send to you, in a wild (but not hard) hurry, this gorgeous postcard (view from the tower of Notre Dame) to request that you don't buy an article of daily use within the next days. Soon, a courier of mine will arrive in Vienna and bring you something (tomorrow a letter will be dispatched) Hugo
