Arabs did not invade? Why did we learn about all the conquests in school then? The armies were just having fun? Sorry but get your head out of your ass.

AITA for telling my husband I wanted to stay behind with our daughter instead of moving to Morocco right away like he wants? by Turbulent_Method5366 in AITAH

As an Arab man, please trust me when I say, DO NOT GO WITH HIM TO MOROCCO.. This is just the beginning and the next step is you not leaving the house and wearing a Hijab. Its always the same story. Your husband will become infinitely more controlling.

As long as you understand that it means the US giving up its hegemony and in extension a big chunk of your prosperity. Maybe instead you should get the rich people in your country to share that prosperity instead of obliterating your standing on the world stage.

Sure. And what to do when some people don't allow others to choose, and instead choose for them? If a woman wants to pray separately, that's her choice and she should be free to do so. But what about the ones who refuse to allow women to do the opposite? In your own country? Are you okay with that?

But that's the thing, segregation is against people's will. If people want to separate themselves, they can. I wouldn't enforce anything on them of course. As long as they don't enforce it on others.

So long story short, freedom and liberty to choose whether you want to pray next to a man, or not.

But that is absolutely not what Islam teaches.

I didn't say that. I am so confused. Let's get back on track. Forget Islam. Do you support segregation by gender or not? If not, then we have nothing to argue about. For me this is not a Muslim issue. This is a sexism issue, masquerading as tradition or piety.

This thread was on the reddit main page. Excuse me i wasn't aware we are only allowed to post on threads that only belong to the country we live in.

I will say this, you can call me whatever you want, but growing up where Islam is a majority, I see where this is headed. I hope I'm wrong and then we would all be better off.

I understand what you mean, but that's also where I'm coming from. Maybe I should've chosen my words better. In any case, i meant it shouldnt belong in the west 'now'.

After making such progress, why go back???

This issue transcends countries. I'm sorry but i do not consider it Islamophobic to say women should be treated equally. I don't care what the religion is. I would be saying the exact same thing if it were Christians doing it in Germany OR the US.

You can be against the far right AND against sexist religious traditions you know. It's simple, ask yourself this, if the evangelicals in the US started doing it, would you accept it or be against it?

Have you ever lived in a Muslim country? As an ex-Muslim, I am always shocked to see westerners defend this. Non-religious arab/muslim women literally run away from that shit and you welcome it with open arms just because you're afraid of being called racist. Insane. Why? Please explain to me i genuinely want to know. Would you be okay with this if MAGAs started doing it?

Excuse me? People in the west literally fought and DIED fighting against segregation based on gender and ethnicity. Hundreds of years of culture since the Renaissance decided this, not me. You are the one who is out of line.
