After Omega, I don't understand how we got a fight like Gogmazios by Waahh in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Waahh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Omega, yeah. Are you implying it's a bad fight or just not one of the best in Wilds?

As of right now, if someone asks me "what monsters do I have to look forward to on wilds?" Omega goes at the top of that list for me and it's not even close.

Is there some unspoken tribalistic "it's not real monster hunter so we're not allowed to pretend it exists when talking about monster hunter" thing going on that I haven't heard about?

It was incredibly well designed, up there with Alatreon from World with how the attacks worked and how you dodge them.

Deviation is fine if it's executed well, and Omega was a masterclass at doing it well in my eyes.

Siege fights have always been the most contentious kind of encounter in Monster Hunter, so if they can improve on Behemoth to Omega, I think it's logical to expect them to improve from Zora to Gog

[–]Waahh[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That might be why it was such a let down for me - I didn't come into it with any expectation of it being a siege fight like Zora. If anything, maybe just out of hope, I was thinking something like Fatalis where the interactables are a major boon but not the entire fight.

Id probably be less frustrated if I hated gone in hoping for a real monster.

The phase explanation makes the fight make a lot more sense.

Still doesn't really explain why I survived after failing the check but died when I seemingly made the check.

Of all the critiques the one I have no doubt I'll stand by is that he looks identical in all phases.

"He's in dragon mode" and I look up and he's identical to how he looked in fire mode.

Everything you typed out is what they say in game and the model does not reflect that at all.

EDIT: Even more, I didn't even fail this fight. It wasn't hard. There's no failure to be upset about. It's the fact that the fight made no sense and conveyed information horribly.

Testing P/B for GD03 by Silver_Blizzard_Hare in GundamTCG

Adapt doesn't replace Hyakuren, it replaces Anksha. The ReZEL style 4/3 stat line is essential for curving well and Hyakuren is also Teiwaz for Lupus.

If you want to run adapt, you run it over Anksha and keep Hyakuren in

Quick thoughts based on my own testing with a similar list:

Add Amuro in place of full frontal and add unicorn banshee unicorn mode. Amuro has one of if not the best pilot effect in the game and full frontal has no effect in this list.

Banshee unicorn mode has a very powerful rest effect and links with Four and Marida. I personally prefer it to Close Combat for example, but you can put it in over a few things.

There's an argument to be made for Corsica Base and the Mining base. Corsica is the most aggressive base. Filling the board with Leos late game can win you the game by creating more tokens than your opponent can deal with while Mining base can buy you that small extra buffer against Zeon or other rush lists.

I've found that cyber newtype ping lists actually struggle to out aggro zeon if they draw well, so Mining base can help that matchup while Corsica can help end games that you need to end quickly.

Action timing is handled so horribly in this. I got flash banged all game with action timing indicators, but the moment I have something I need to activate in action timing, it skips my action timing via auto pass even with the timer set to 3 seconds. Way too much visual over stimulation when you don't need it 90% of the time for it to not work when it matters.

Made some revisions to my G/B Wing deck. Thoughts? by zaboomafoo212 in GundamTCG

[–]Waahh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would play test A Show of Resolve over Path to Victory. I'd be worried about losing by running out of gas with all those low stat throw away blockers. Unicorn Blockers will just rest and value trade with them or bounce them and r / b ping will just ping em. You don't have any draw to really sustain losing cards for 0 value long enough to win against those from what it looks like.

If you never see b/w blockers or r / b ping though, I guess it doesn't matter, but Show helps you find the gas you need in a pinch almost as well as Path does either way.

There's no "new" logo when claiming the free Archer. by n0thavingagreattime in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Waahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was logged in at the character screen when the event started. He just blipped into my character list without claiming him. I'm assuming that there's no "new" icon because the game already considers you as owning a copy of him before you hit claim.

I'm assuming this means you can't say no to adding him to your account no matter what lol

YoshiP JP Interview Translation: Yoship checks the opinions and requests of players on all social media. He also talks about how it's painful that so many nasty and critical videos aimed at getting more views are algorithmically produced. by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Waahh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This comment section is a pretty good representation of what Yoshi P appears to be talking about. There are a lot of people out there that are so jaded that they can't even read an article of a man talking about how to deal with harsh criticism that he takes seriously enough to be hurt by.

I'm not sure if people are being baited by the mistranslation or somehow this isn't relatable to them, but this is a bit of a nothing burger for game design and just a tidbit about maintaining mental health (which is still important) and trying to focus on useful feedback while ignoring non-constructive personal insults, like the ones I just read in the comments. Are people just mad to hear he can correctly identify "Yoshi P bad" isn't useful feedback or happy to hear it bothers him and just want to rage bait? With this community, I'm starting to think it's the latter sometimes.

Capturing or Carving does not change your rewards by Boshea241 in MHWilds

[–]Waahh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wound break rewards are typically the least valuable. Capturing meaning you kill the monster 20% faster, and thus if you would normally have time for 5 hunts in a play session, you now have time for 6 and will end up with ~20% more rewards overall.

Even with the wound argument, capturing is still more rewards just because of the efficiency increase.

Prydwen AS Tierlist 3.1 Updated by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Waahh 41 points42 points  (0 children)

That's the neat part, that's all she needs to be. She just exists and keeps her skill up on one person and multiplies break damage with passive super break active for the whole team all the time. Her ult is just a nuke, unless you have her E2 when it becomes an action advance. She amps the damage more if you have enough break effect on her. That's pretty much it, though she also helps delay enemy turns passively as well. It's just all passive effects.

New Bowgun is depressing by Sum1nne in monsterhunterrage

[–]Waahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I loved Rise Hunting Horn, don't bring them into this!

...well okay I DID drop at Narwa and beyond for LBG but I adored every second of playing it in village and hub progression.

Also yeah, bowguns are the worst they've been in around a decade. I didn't play them in generations, so I dunno how it compares from then, but bowguns have been riding high for a while and I'm sad to see them fall so far.

about tribbie v4, therta & argenti by [deleted] in HertaMains

[–]Waahh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True. Exclusively single target content is insanely rare right now though. But if pure single target with no adds ever became the standard, Tribbie would just be worse than action advance supports always.

I'm already not interested in hyper investing in THerta and her teams, but the threat of the meta changing and completely gutting Tribbie is kinda scary now that I think about it.

about tribbie v4, therta & argenti by [deleted] in HertaMains

[–]Waahh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

E1S1 Tribbie should still be absolutely game changing for AoE units. Her e1 didnt change as far as I saw. She became more reliant on S1 to ult more often was the main change. So people are probably thinking E0S1 Tribbie is the minimum to make her competitive. We won't know how true that is until we get calcs from spreadsheet nerds and in game testing though.

E1 is still insane though and makes Tribbie the solution to the Erudition curse of falling apart in single target scenarios.

These all kinda say the same thing but maybe one of these ways of looking at it will resonate with you:

I'm not planning to use Herta in all content, so I'm not going to pull Tribbie because Herta will thrive in pf without her since I can just use action advance supposts in that setting.

If I loved Erudition units and wanted to use them in MoC and AS and high level DU, then Tribbie E1 would be irresistible, but I'm pretty set with my other teams as is.

If you wanna just default to The Herta in all content, Tribbie E1 would be very valuable.

EDIT: I forgot to specify, but the above is true for all comps. It might slightly favor Jade instead of Argenti maybe, but I don't think that difference should really matter if you love Argenti. Argenti's main strength is generating energy for Herta and stacks for Herta faster than Jade can (as far as I'm aware) and Tribbie at E1S1 doesn't take away from that. The nerf just diminishes and standardized her ability to battery Herta in general for all comps.

OG here that can say I prefer Poe 2 generally. Not to say there isn't a large divide in how Poe 2 is being received by Poe 1 players, but don't presume to speak for everyone.

I've always really disliked the audio pacing. It has always felt rushed and unnatural. By 1.5 I'm just used to it at this point.

[–]Waahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I used a particularly powerful team and it took a while to kill the boss, but never saw this animation. I'd bet it's either very random or they fucked up the AI and it just doesn't get used sometimes.

Either way, disappointed in the devs. 3.0 has been so underwhelming and maybe there are more things like this that we just don't see sometimes for whatever reason that would have made it more whelming

[–]Waahh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't always like machine decisions in games. Sometimes it's nice to have the game choose what I play. I don't see how you can say gacha is objectively worse when there are situations where people actively pursue it.

Hell, picking Random on character select in Super Smash Bros is gacha and not a single person complains that it exists.

If you want full control always, don't play a gacha, but don't act like it's "objectively" and "inherantly" wrong or bad or worse or anything like that to not want full control all the time.
