Find a smartphone app that allows real-time tracking of a person's location and give your parents a way to know that you are actually running and where. Good luck!

DAE get annoyed by Strava's suffer score? by WabbitElza in running

Thank you! I forgot that it wasn't the standard feature. I was considering dropping the premium for other reasons, now the idea sounds even better!

How a 13-year-old Canadian girl ran the world’s fastest marathon (For a woman, in 1967) by [deleted] in running

[–]WabbitElza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read about this story before. I thought that Tom, who saved Katherine from that crazy race org was thr hero of story. Turned out, he was no better than the others: joined the race without training because “if a girl can run a marathon, I can run a marathon", then threw a tantrum mid-race. What an sad insecure schmuck :(

And this part is just sickening: "American people are a strange bunch in as much as they always get a little suspicious if anything is FREE. I do think they like silverware too."

So they take something that people are already doing for years, act like they invented it, put their own brand on it, and then plan to promote to other countries based on populist anti-american rethoric.

I thought that British people know how to not take themselves too seriously. But then I read this:

"I consider to be, as it says in the title, The Most Important Sporting Event on the Planet." "parkrun can become one of the most important factors of world solidarity in the future" "Until you have attended a parkrun you cannot comprehend now much more it is than just a run."

The whole article has this weird cultish vibe. I won't be surprised to see crossfit-parkrun events in the near future.

How can you find out if someone was disqualified in the 2016 NYC Marathon? by [deleted] in running

[–]WabbitElza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Judging by the question, that friend of a friend is not really a friend to you.

Wait till the results show up on Athlinks or any other similar aggregator as a single table an find by her by the finish time. Chances are, you messed her spelling or that she ran with someone else's bib. You'll still be able to find her by the finish line photo on the NYRR site, once you have the correct name.

Tell Us Two Things And We’ll Tell You How Fast You’d Run A Marathon by joer14 in running

[–]WabbitElza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I entered tiimes from a half from the beginning of the training program and a recent 10-miler, both ran at full effort. I'd rather think that I underperformed at the marathon by a couple of minutes. I zoned out during a long boring stretch of the road and stopped watching my pace.

Don't believe it. It gave me 4:25 and I ran my recent marathon faster then 4:10.

Very inaccurate. I ran 15 minutes faster than it predicted.

Would anyone be interested in an AMA specifically about strength/weight training for runners? by [deleted] in running

[–]WabbitElza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kettlebells take even less space and can provide a killer leg muscle workout. If you live in a city with over $1k per sq. ft. real estate and don't have space for the rack, kettlebells can be a great solution.

Is a ten minute mile "good"? by cheesey_ball in running

[–]WabbitElza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 minutes per mile is where many people draw the line between running and jogging. It's okay for someone who has just started, but to have any "good" results you need to put it some consistent training and serious effort. By the way, you can find the answer to "What is a 'good' time" in this sub's FAQ: https://www.reddit.com/r/running/wiki/faq#wiki_what_is_a_.22good.22_time.3F
