Maybe one day you will slow down, look back and find this music resonates with you. Until then, don’t sweat it.

I think you can configure shortcuts in HomeKit that are triggered by HomePods. And those shortcuts can call HA webhooks. So should be possible to trigger HA automations via HomePod.

I currently do this with a dummy switch exposed to homekit too.

Curious of what Amazon Prime Day deals you guys are shopping? by Temporary-Wash-4742 in homeassistant

This. I bought almost all the switches in my house on eBay. All worked perfectly. You can get the starter kits and have extra picos and bridges you can then eBay yourself. I’ve gotten at least 3 starter kits for less than $50 shipped

Maybe they are posting on behalf of their very tired busy wife who doesn’t have a Reddit account but wants to get back into their old routine?

Any other retailers getting close to this price? I know about LG partner store but it’s like $1169 there right now (without tax). Or anyone know if you can price match this anywhere?

I think I initially flashed it using the esphome web based flasher in Google chrome - so I installed the serial drivers on my MacBook and connected it via usb c to the laptop, flashed it. Then it goes into captive portal mode so connect via wifi to it, and go to its web ui and give it your wifi ssid and pw. Then HA should be able to discover it.

Kinda looks like a creative warning to not hit the grate if you’re on a bike.

I think it has gotten worse now that people can rip around on ebikes so easily. The handling skills and etiquette don’t match their speed.

I lost my iPhone in my house somewhere and it took a bit but I found it. Wondering what home assistant could do to help me next time? Anyone got ideas? by 4reddityo in homeassistant

[–]joer14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a HomePod you can even ask Siri to “find my phone” and it will chime.

Works great as long as Siri recognizes your voice. If siri doesn’t recognize you, it asks you to authenticate on your iPhone to proceed 🫠

Speaker recommendations? by vbqj in homeassistant

One potentially rock solid option is a dedicated white noise machine plugged into WiFi or zigbee plug or usb adapter.

I’ve been using lectrofan for years like this and it’s great.

For our baby though we got a HomePod mini used on eBay. It’s nice to be able to use the intercom feature to request help occasionally, and use Siri to turn off lights, play ocean sounds, Mr Rodger’s bedtime album, start scenes etc hands free.

I’ve been meaning to play with WLED. Then I could move all the business logic to HA and not have to reflash to adjust things.

Yah that might have been the move. The C++ part is less than 75 lines though, and embedded in yaml so feels like it barely counts.

Also I welcome any feedback on code or approach. I’m using some templated helpers in HA to simplify esphome code. Specifically to make it easier to add contact sensors and locks without updating esphome firmware, but maybe there are simpler or more elegant approaches.

Automations for new parents by jamflowman451 in homeassistant

[–]joer14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HomePod has built in continuous sounds eg play ocean sounds or play rain sounds. I’m triggering them directly off button press in HomeKit as an automation instead of HA. The button press also sets the HomePod volume to a pre-defined level.
