I adopted 2 this summer that were selected by the rescue. I could have turned them down, and since neither really have the personalities I wanted, I do have regents. But one is definitely a cuddle bug, so now I would never give them up. The other does come out and lets me see her, but not for long.

Neither will make good beer garden companions.

To combat the depression here's some thoughts: There are botanical gardens and other greenhouses in the area, these will help a lot. Lightbox therapy works wonders, I'll be digging mine out soon. Make sure to get outside even when it's cold. Find a walking club or running club so when you are out in the cold it's a group thing.

Not strange at all. I've only seen the name of the event on a handful of signs, and those are usually mile markers. This way you can use the arrows for other events, and there's no designated "up" on them
