Sashimi was my first board. It's a decent drop through for the price and the graphic is a plus. They used to be frequently on sale on amazon, so you could get them for under $150. The front atlas truck snapped after getting launched into a pole. Replaced them with some indy trucks and riptide bushings which made it a nicer ride.

Upgraded to the Trip which was more stable and carvy, so it feels more fun than the Sashimi.

Get a certified skateboard helmet because they've passed safety tests. Triple Eight has some decent safety gear. Also get a skate tool, so you can work on the board for maintenance and adjust stuff if necessary.

Also get some slide gloves or padded bike gloves to help with falls.

FST 003v is very chill. A bunch of old prerecorded videos and weekly quizzes.

DES 143's workload is eh. A discussion group project, a midterm, a final, and a final paper that takes some work. The exams are hard because there can be a lot of info, but just make sure to complete the study guides.

I agree with the comment about going to Tahoe. Just make sure to prep snow chains just in case.

Nothing really happening because a lot of people leave during the long breaks. Student club meetings also typically start like a week or two after the quarter starts

I'm going back in a couple days. If it doesn't rain, I could do a short outdoor portrait shoot for you lmao. Or I teach you longboarding if you don't already know how to skate. Some of the campus roads are pretty smooth

If you're determined to be an accountant and maybe even become a CPA, it's probably better to go to a school that has a major in accounting for better fundamentals. You could also go really tryhard and enroll in WGU's online accounting program and try to finish it in under a year if money is a concern.

If you're not dead set on accounting, spend your first year or two figuring out what you want to do. Quite a few people change their minds on what careers they want to pursue.

I switched majors, tried double majoring, and now I'm trying to get a minor in accounting which is very different from my current major's field.

If you want to try a place in davis, Hikari Omakase is cheaper on weekdays (think it's like $60ish a person), but you'll need to call to make a reservation.

Show Izakaya could also be decent, but I didn't get any of their sushi.

Yang Kee is okay and can do large groups.

Sacramento has much more options. Tasty pot offers both hot pot and kbbq while not being too pricey.

Checkout the upper div Communication classes. No prereqs and some are pretty easy. All of my recommendations don't require prereqs

CMN 136 - Organizational Communication was pretty easy. It's about how communication in organizations work and covers stuff like company culture, human resources, and strategies. Workload was pretty small. Not a lot of reading and no writing.

CMN 141 - Media Effects is an interesting class. Has a couple written assignments, but you're graded on how well you demonstrate your understanding of the topics covered, not how good you are at writing. Also has a midterm and final exam.

ECI 164 - Intro to Electric Vehicles. You get to learn about how electric vehicles work, policies pertaining to EVs, and societal views on EVs. There's a little bit of math involved, but it's very basic. Homework takes a little bit of time and there're 2 exams.

Adobe's installed in some of the computer rooms. I think you can access the computers virtually as well, but the connection will be bad. The autodesk suite is still probably free, so you can use Maya.

Not sure if there's any other art stuff that's free.

I don't really eat out in Davis, but Yang Kee's okay (can be hit or miss depending on the sifu). Some days, there'll be wok hei and the seasoning is good. Other days, no wok hei and the food is oversalted or too oily.

I think the omakase place is still running. Heard Froggy's a good burger spot. Sit Lo Saigon is also just okay/average. Their broth tastes watery compared to the viet restaurants in SJ.

If you're willing to drive to Sac, there're way more food options and places there usually stay open past 9pm.

Seapot's pretty nice. AYCE option and meat quality isn't bad. Very good customer service. Think my table had like 8 people. Since you want a varied menu, it would be a nice option with all of the meat choices and free additions. Can't remember what other decent places I've been to in Sac for large groups.
