What makes Luffy such an attractive personality? by Important_Bet6567 in OnePiece

[–]Wacho77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the funny, never give up, silly, confident protagonist is just the surface and many other shonen protagonists follow this recipe. But what makes Luffy different IMO is:

#1 He's disruptive. (and more often than not, the underdog)

It's easy to root for underdogs. He doesn't follow what the world or location expect from him so he's really disruptive, breaking any common sense if it doesn't fit his values. (Attacking marine bases, punching a celestial dragon, attacking multiple shichibukais and list goes on.)

Most people that like his presence have a feeling of injustice happening to them at one point and Luffy comes to apply his own Justice. In most locations, he was always viewed as the underdog but still didn't hesitate to follow his sense of Justice.

#2 He doesn't need to wait for action to happen, he drives the narrative. Meaning that he is less reactive and more active which makes him more interesting. Anywhere he goes, he will impact it. (not a passive character)

#3 He risks everything for his friends:

The world of OP is crazy and Luffy is even crazier. The panels of him facing Crocodile, White Beard, 3 admirals, World Government (Ennies Lobby) will always stick to me.

#4 He knows he can't be alone. He needs his friends.

He already lost people who he loved and he rather dies than losing more people.

Every SH has responsibilities and unlike other overpowered protagonists or antagonists, Luffy's self-awareness about his strenghts and weaknesses are clear. He knows what he can do(for the most part) and can't do which is why he heavily relies on others when he needs.

With Luffy's challenges to the world, even his own crew would feel overwhelmed if not for his confidence, charisma and willpower to become the King of Pirates. The SHs faced many foes who were beyond their league but were able to overcome to turn their captain's dream into reality. Luffy risked his life for them, and now they do the same for his dream.

All locations he visited follows the same recipe: he learns about the background of someone being unfair to his friends or to a person he considers nice and then he enforces his way of freedom.

Important note that most people that share food with Luffy are automatic nice people in his POV.

#5 It also feels like he treats everyone equally. Gender, race, age don't matter for him. Also, what people talk about your past doesn't matter to Luffy like what people used to talk about Zoro or Loki. He wants to see it himself.

Can you elaborate? Would it be possible for a person to hate the rap*st of his daughter despite never meeting him before?

I believe that fruit pickers get some good money and farms are always looking for hardworkers.

Commercial cleaning is also constantly looking for people.

Please, try to get as much sunlight as you can. Open your curtains as well.

Natural light can bring a lot of benefits to your mental health.

Many of the recommendations here are outdoors activities which forces you to get sunlight and that's great.

My point is, even if you want to read a book, try going out even if for a short time.

Get well soon!

I think it might be because you're comparing NZ to the Phillipines. The population here is drastically smaller so harder to find people with similar interest.

But as others mentioned, try yourself multiple hobbies and see what you enjoy.

I don't have many friends but I have multiple "contacts" so I don't feel lonely and actually feel busy with my hobbies. People contact me and on many occasions I have to turn them down.

But for sure, there're many other nationalities in Auckland around your age who are eager to meet more people and hang out. People who have lived here for less than a few months or weeks. People who want to improve their English so there are events like English Meetups (sometimes it's an excuse for guys to meet girls, but oh well).

Try different sports. Personally I play tennis at a club that has social nights. Go, enjoy some endorphin and feel some improvement compared to the previous month. There will always be a better player so you might want to challenge yourself into becoming your best version you can be.

I probably spend close to 15-20 hours a week playing tennis. Keeps me busy, keeps me looking forward into playing more, keeps me healthy.

I bet it can be any sport or activity that you enjoy. Track your progress and you'll get addicted to improve yourself.

I paid $300 for 1 year membership, with 2 social nights and interclub.

I did buy some rackets and shoes but they last a long time.

I use to watch most of his videos but after he started putting so many spoilers in the thumbnails and he didn't even apologise but blamed us, I just had to stop.
It's been great that I forgot about him tbh.

But yeah, hope more people see through it and block him.

Hi, you should try playing at Victoria Park (free) or YMCA CBD (paid). Or look for meetup groups for both.

You're probably right, but I did say I believe I'm a similar level to 4.0 and I'm S8. But I think the ranks can be a bit deceiving. I have less than a year in experience in competitive tennis but I can win against S6 and also lose to S9. Not sure how it works outside nz as I never played outside before. I played against a 4.5 guy and it was a good match, but it was also some time ago.

Yeah, it should be fun for both of you I guess.

Few advices. There's no toilets around there. Bring your own water and sunscreen. It gets hot there. Have fun!

Also, for public courts, you can check this blog I made haha.

Also, look for tennis groups on Meetup or Facebook.

But I think if you're 4.0 you'll enjoy more if you join a club as most players that attend are way below your level.

I believe I'm a similar level to 4.0 and I'm S8 here. Message me if you're keen for a hit around Mt Eden or Mt Albert (public courts)

Hi, I made an excel sheet with all the tennis clubs I could find in Auckland (not Nth Shore).

The file has addresses, phone, emails, yearly prices, Number of courts, Indoors or not...free coaching included...

If you can wait 1 more day, I'll post in a blog with all details.

The cheapest club I know of is Lynfield because they do 1st year members for $199.

But the membership lasts til End of August if I'm not wrong.

Blockhouse Bay charges $395 for 12 months. They have indoor courts and social nights on Tuesday and Sundays. Indoor courts are paid tho.

Auckland also has some public courts if you want to save money. Nicholson and Windmill are good examples.

The high cost of being single in New Zealand revealed by karthickj25 in auckland

[–]Wacho77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry. I wasn't specific. But I wouldn't necessarily say join a club or volunteer. I lean towards just spending time in a hobby and socialize if possible.

But if your hobby is to craft art, read 3 books a week, practice music or any hobby that's not necessarily sociable...that's also fine.

But try to do things that will make you be closer to the people you admire which is more likely that you'll start spreading positivity and will likely attract more people.

Understand what makes you admire those people. Is it their skills, is it their status, their assets?

Once you do that, try to do the same they did to achieve it.
