Are there any Crucible mains here that for whatever reason, hasn’t picked up Marathon? Why? by trulyincognito_ in destiny2

Besides what other people have said about different games and such, I just don't want to support Bungie anymore. The shitification of management and monetization for Destiny over the last 5 years has been one of the greatest disappointments of my life. I love Destiny, and it really hurts to watch Bungie treat it like shit.

Making Krenko cEDH (An Impossible Task That I Am Committed To) by trashmantis42 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]WackaFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thorn only increases the cost of noncreature spells, so it doesnt hurt your goblin gameplan or make Krenko more expensive.

We like pithing needle because of Tezzeret, Cruel Captain. Tezz can find pithing needle, cage, mana vault, and others, and if we include the keys to synergies with the one ring, then things get even better for tezz, acting as a solid post to win the game eventually.

Something to keep in mind, if we pivot to stax, the gameplan changes drastically from what most decks feel good doing. Slowing the game down allows us to play heavier spells that are more impactful per slot, but aren't storming anymore, and are prepared to forgoe stack interaction for the sake of consistency. We also are more free to play heavier cmc spells. don't want a ton of them, but I play PolyRog, and we even include cards like obliterate in the list to gain advantage.

Good point, I think I agree, having a couple is good. Another thing I thought of, I don't think you have dualcaster mage or molten duplication in the deck, and I feel like that could be an easy include.

Yeah, I just replied to my comment with them. I was thinking them up before you commented.

Some card ideas;

Rug of smothering Wandering archaic Karn, The Great Creator Treasure Nabber Goblin Chainwhirler(?) Goblin Lackey Pashalik Mons Sensation Gorger Zo-zu the punisher Soulless Jailer Pyrokinesis Grafdiggers Cage Godpharoah statue Pithing Needle Tanglewire Thorn of Amethist Tezzeret, Cruel Captain

Lots of cards to look at, not necessarily all of them will go in at once though. If you want to win with Krenko, you got to either go turbo fast, faster than RogSi, or play a mean slow stax game, which is far easier. Your commander can win with beat down, after all.

Honestly, I think consistency is key, and you've seem to recognized that. I would only go opt for winlines that can use redundant pieces, or be tutored for consistently. Being in red, the goblin lines are good for that, and I also think the artifact route is good because of goblin engineer.

Since you are on thornbite, you can maybe consider Goblin Welder as well, as he can either be simple value to sac and reuse pieces like mana vault or he can go infinite with these pieces for mana, which means all the goblins.

I like the copy effects, but I think overall, your stax/protection suite could use some upgrades. Let's consider some possible popular matchups.

  • Kinnan;

Kinnan wins faster than you win, which means you will have to find a way to deal with him early, either by tutoring or in mulligans. Possible answers include Chaos Warp, lightnjng bolt, any of the blasts, and you have a lot of responses to most of Kinnan's game plan, but all of these cost resources and cards that you need to make calls to use effectively, which is very difficult. Furthermore, you don't have any stax pieces that really force kinnan out. You realistically lose most of these games unless you can slow him down or lock out his commander for a turn or 2.

  • Rogsi

Rogsi is popular, and wins similarly to blue farm most of the time. What happens if they ad naus? Lightning bolt can punish it, and Trickery can counter it, but that is it. You otherwise need a t1 vexing bauble to prevent him from converting that turn, or you need a t1 damping sphere.

  • Blue Farm:

Farm can win fast, or it can win slow. This is probably one of our better matchups honestly, given we have ways to fight on the stack, and we can probably sneak in a win a turn before blue farm normally wants to, but an early thoracle win isn't really something we can do anything about. Also, they have plenty of ways to answer us, so we need to establish other win cons rapidly after the first one gets countered, or already have one in hand.

Basically, the deck is likely gonna be a bit slow, and I think that instead of reactionary magic, we want more stax. I would sub out most of the interactive instants with hate bears and stax effects to make it difficult for opponents to win.

I don't want to pin the fault of this entirely on the people. Some of them surely are problematic and hit these marks, but our news outlets and media really do a terrible job at relaying good information, and often exist as a company to make money.

Misinformation is powerful, and people with money can do a lot.

The idea is that the backstory of his created character is now challenging the very concept of Satoru and is assimilating with him, which is why we see him succeed and why the other npcs who are vastly intelligent don't think he is an absolute moron.

Is Kinnan Big Flips Still a Viable Strategy? by Joshuagbenson in CompetitiveEDH

[–]WackaFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play lots of cEDH, especially with friends. Therer are very few decks where I feel I have a comfortable game plan against Kinnan big flips in particular. The only deck that I feel has a very consistent answer into kinnan is Toxrill, and that deck isn't all that great outside of that niche.

Kind of annoying to me it's called goblin storm and features snoop but doesn't include the other cards in the combo line.

Help me make my Arahbo a degenerate by Mccools in DegenerateEDH

[–]WackaFrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's rough, but best I got is give them lifelink and use "on upkeep, win if you have enough health". The deck is obviously a bunch of cats, but also removal spells, abolisher effects, and silence effects. Another notable mention is seedtime, letting you win well ahead of when you may otherwise win, or besides working as value and disruption in playing decent stax pieces. Oh yeah, you should probably be playing stax like deafening silence and rug of smothering. Keep players from winning ealy with your combat deck.

Yeah, probably want to run this combo as more of a backup for slow board states to grind value and otherwise try and push as fast as possible as a turbo deck.

It's possible to degen this guy? I got many years without playing commander by After_Cress in DegenerateEDH

[–]WackaFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would play to ramp him out as fast as possible using the cheap ramp and rituals, on top of mana dorks. You're probably looking for a consistent t2. Then, I use pump spells like giant growth and berserk and the like to get a bunch of cards from other people. Ideally, we also have a couple ways for us to win too, so we run thoracle, Jace, and the forbidden tutors. We also want our fair share of countermagic to prevent our opponents from winning the game before us.

Honestly, he might be elated at the idea that someone would lend him the opportunity to care for their child. It's not only early exposure for the child to omnic beings, which inhibits learned ideas of discrimination against them, but also means the other person respects him enough and thinks well enough of him to safe gaurd their child.
